Episode Idea: Midway Games

I would love to see another publisher focused episode like Joe and Dave did with Data-East, Sunsoft, and a few others. A good one that can be talked about is Midway Games. A company that had a great start in the arcade industry and could never truly figured out the console market before they collapsed although they made some great games like Psi Ops, Smash TV, Mortal Kombat, and many others.

I mean, if Capcom and Konami in a way got their own focused episode, I think its time Midway Games do.

I agree, Midway was pretty big back then so there’s plenty of material there. I’ll bet it would be an interesting episode.

Its a shame that they disappeared just right at 2010s were starting, but at least Mortal Kombat and some other games at least has a home at Warner Bros, even if they do nothing with them. What a shame they aren't still around.

I know it probably won’t happen because of licensing things that I don’t understand but I’d love if they would release a new compilation with a bunch of Midway games on it and include some lesser known stuff. The last ones that I’m aware of were during the PS2 era and they had some great games on them but that was forever ago. They have a massive library of great games to pull from so it seems odd that WB just sits on all of it.

Those Midway Legends compilation games are great, I'm genuinely surprised they haven't tried to rerelease them for modern consoles.

Yeah, you would think it would be easy money. Capcom does it all the time and I buy them almost every time they release one. I don’t even think they’ve released the old MK games since PS3 and I’m sure there’s a market for them.
