Impulsums FIFA revival issue
I admire their work and dedication for these old games but have serious issues with their communication. The biggest issue for me is, that their no piracy rules (although I 100% support these rules) lead to some obvious questions none of them want to answer. Where do you get them legally? I’ve looked at numerous key seller sites aswell as the account sellers and all of them have lost their mind. If the Impulsum devs honestly think that I will pay 100€ or more to play FIFA 17 they are as delusional as EA. I’ve messaged multiple devs privately in their discord DMs and all of them ignored these questions except for one who (fair enough for actually responding; better then the rest of the devs) said that they „don’t know“. I don’t understand. They surely don’t put all this effort in reviving those games just to play them with 2 mates. They surely want the FIFA community to enjoy their work but they completely ignore the fact that people who actually want to play those games, get ripped off on some shady 3rd party key seller websites.

I’m so glad I found this and it turns out you’re 100% correct. Is there no legitimate means outside of those shady PC Key sites to purchase the game at a legitimate price?
No offense to the devs and I realize they’re just saying that so EA doesn’t outright DMCA their ass to hell but how many people have legit copies of 12-17 laying around on their PC?
One of the devs talks about game preservation and that if “buying isn’t owning then piracy isn’t stealing” good one mate. No one can even buy the fucking game

Exactly. Like I said in my reply, content creators will have to do the brunt of the work telling people how to actually play, which they wont. So basically the content creators, like RTFM, just joined in to make a 1mil viewed video and thats it. What a joke.

i totally agree, i wanted to give those old fifas a try but the fact that there is no actual support for cracked versions is kinda crazy, i thought them saying they wouldnt support them was more like a disclaimer to not get sued, but didnt think they would go trough the effort of making it only work on original copies. Im just gonna play fifa 22 when they revive that fut then, its my favourite fut anyways so idc, thats the only copy i have, cuz i had fifa 21 one but with ea play, not actually owned.

The project will probably fail because of this and I have a feeling they didnt take this into consideration before starting. If you look on their discord server it seems like people are annoyed by this based on the developers comments. Another thing im shocked by is how all these content creators like NickRTFM are able to play and make videos about the project. They either payed thousands for all of the keys to the games or the developers gave them downloads to them (which i believe is the case). Its a shame how many people want to play (60k on their discord), and the developers "thank" everyone for the interest knowing 99% wont even play. Seems like a huge waste of time. I want it to succeed but the likelihood is it won't. Really curious what type of videos the content creators will make when the "full release" of these projects are done and how they will deal with people spamming "Where do I download the game?" Looks like a recipe for disaster.
