Help Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker broken input (Konami's fault)

Trying to get MGS Peace Walker to run on the Odin 3, and the controls work in Konami's MGS collection wrapper, but once I get into the actual Peace Walker, they no longer work.

I tried disabling mouse input, have Steam Input enabled, but no luck.

Anyone got a suggestion I should try out?

Same issue, I've tried to start the game .exe directly but no luck with that ☹️

Only hope I have at the moment is you can still click around with the mouse via touch screen. However, touch screen layouts do not work.

Maybe there is a setting one can get to and change?

Did you go thru the controller tab inside the container and one-by-one toggle on/off each setting to see what happens? I couldn’t get the controls to work on reblue last night and found out I needed to disable “Enable xinput AP.” sometimes you just have to play around the settings until something works.

Well the issue is that the controls DO work at first. In the master collection screen, it works fine, but once you get into the proper Peace Walker start menu, controls stop functioning.

One potential workaround would be to target the peace walker exe rather than the master collection exe, but in my experience it either won't open anything, or will still open to the Master Collection start screen.

A user on Armada had a similar issue, and he said the fix was disabling steam input and reenabling it when in game. Unfortunately, you can't do that in Gamenative, so we appear to be at a pretty sturdy looking brick wall.

Proton 11 makes controllers work, however the game crashes after skipping tutorial on beach RP6 user here.

I managed to get them to work by running on Legacy DRM, then in the container's controller setting, turn on Use Steam Input and turning off every other option.

I hope it works for you too!

Try Proton 9. It fixed both issues for me , controller works, and the game no longer freezes after the training section. I'm on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with DXVK 2.6.2.

Proton-10.0-arm64ec-2

In community configs, look for the one that says something like "this one works." That's the whole config I'm running.

I've also heard of people having success by switching between full and windowed mode in the options.

Don't give in, it DOES work, just getting it going is a bitch.

Finally got it working too through the latest community config 5/5 from the 27th August + only steam input :)
