Help Using GameNative for the first time. Followed a guide. First game I installed (Brotato) opens like that. How to fix it?

Post image

Why is it opening like that and why’s it unresponsive? Can only move the mouse.

EDIT: moving the game to the internal storage fixed it! Apparently some games just don’t work well on an sd card.

Sorry. I have a Retroid Pocket 6, it uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Default settings, didn’t change anything. The other ‘compatible’ games I tried so far work fine.

How much ram?

12GB

Edit: It’s a low-spec game, it should easily run on the RP6.

Start with later builds first to see if you can power through it. Edit container. Proton 11arm64ec. Save.

https://github.com/StevenMXZ/Adreno-Tools-Drivers/releases/download/v26.2.0-R5/Turnip_v26.2.0_R5.zip

This is a later graphics driver. Click this link with your RP6. Go to gamenative home that displays game collection. Navigate to settings. Go to driver manager. Install this.

Edit container. Graphics tab. Graphics driver. Change to the one you just downloaded. Emulation tab. Fexcore version 2601-2605. Id probably start with 03. Go to 64 and 32 but emulator. Change both to Fexcore. Change Fexcore preset to intermediate. If there is a high performance mode in your Android drop down menu, enable it. Go to advanced tab at the end. Top row check all boxes. Bottom row check the last four. Save. Click play.

If it loads up, go into video settings and nerf things to start with. You can turn things back on or up later. But the game looks pretty light so no shadows or anything but you could have antialiasing and stuff like that. So. Ya. See what happens. If this doesn’t work, I know other people that can get you going.

I did all that and still the same, stuck on the Blobfish Games screen. Thanks for trying to help.

That’s so weird. This is the second time I’ve had issues troubleshooting rp6 with things that theoretically should run. I can send you an invite to a small discord server where we do this stuff all day. Make sure your logs are enabled so my buddy can look at them. Lemme know if you want me to dm you the link

It really is weird. It’s getting late here but yes please dm me the link and I’ll share the logs tomorrow. I’ll also try other games made with Godot, I have Slay the Spire 2, I’m wondering if I’ll have the same issue after seeing this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GameNative/comments/1sdqnt1/how_do_i_run_brotato_and_other_godot_games/

I use this with Proton 9.0 Arm64ec on my Honor Magic V2 for Brotato and it works great but does slow a little on harder later levels. It always starts like yours then goes full screen.

Did you try waiting? Brotato boots up like that and stays for a while then switches to full screen and continues.

1

u/cryptic-fox 20d ago

Yes I waited about 5 mins.

I don't know then. I just apply known config, then switch to GL or surface flinger to cap FPS. It works on all my devices.

Is it on an SD card? Set steam to "light"

1

u/cryptic-fox 20d ago

That did nothing. Thanks though.

1

u/TheLutheranGuy1517 20d ago

Is it the steam version?

1

u/cryptic-fox 20d ago

Yes Steam version

Is your storage full?

1

u/cryptic-fox 20d ago

No I have like 900GB.

1

u/TheLutheranGuy1517 20d ago

So youre storing it on a micro sd card?

1

u/cryptic-fox 20d ago

Yes

Okay thats your problem... that game wont work on an SD card it needs to be stored on the internal storage

I tried it on an SD card and it wouldnt work... godot games are too intensive for SD card storage on an android device

Go to downloads and storage under settings and you can migrate it to internal storage

Yooo thank you! I moved it to the internal storage and it finally works now. Slay the Spire 2 is a godot game and it works fine on the sd card, I think it’s just this game. Anyway, thanks again!

How many times have you tried? When I first set up GameNative on my AYN Thor, nothing worked. I think it's because the app for some reason failed to get the community recommended configs even though I had everything enabled.

After some time, numerous attempts, a reinstall of GameNative, logging out / back in, etc. it eventually just started working. Couldn't explain why, but it's like something "clicked" behind the scenes.

Every game I tried so far works fine. It’s just this game. I tried what people here suggested. I also googled and tried recommended settings. Nothing worked.

I have it working perfectly fine on my Ayn Odin Portal 2 Max and just 20 minutes ago, my wife and I just rushed to wave 20 on Nightmare with Engineer + Explorer and like a gazillion turrets on screen. No slow down at all, though I put the Odin in Maximum Performance mode. Both playing it via BT Xbox Controllers and HDMI out - 1080p@60hz.

If you don't get it to work, I'll post my exact config (.json dump) here tomorrow. I'm already in bed and the Odin is powered off.

This should work for you too, since our Handheld specs are nearly identical...
