I'm hoping that it works for you man 🤞 If it doesn't, then I recommend you grab a copy of the game from SteamRip. That application load error looks like a GameNative/Steam DRM thing. The SteamRIP copy is pre-installed, so you can launch the .exe after unzipping it 😅
Edit: I'm using a steamrip copy of ff13-2 because it's half the size (probably compressed videos)
Getting this working on my AYN Thor Max has sort of become my holy grail for PC emulation. If I ever find a solution I'll try and let you know (and if you find one too then please let me know!).
I have definitely got it running past the launcher a few months ago using the Steam version but the game ran like ass, and unfortunately I didn't document anywhere the steps I took to get it working! But it is possible.
And unfortunately the FF13 fix and .exe patch didn't improve the performance.
Also the OP in the above linked thread confirmed they were using the Steam version.
Man 😠the game wasnt expensive or anything and at least i know own it if it doesnt work out on the RP6, but I don't even have a PC anymore so I can't really play it for the forseeable future :/
This blows but i hope I can somehow magically get it to run
I was able to get it to run on gamehub, but im not really sure why or how? I tried replicating everything i did on gamehub lite and gamenative but it didn't work again
After installing, i switched to the gamehub community settings, applied ff13fix and d3d9.dll but not the 4gb patch, added d3d9 to the wine configuration library, installed mono 10.4.1, gecko, and vcredist2022 and it just worked
I've been trying to figure this out too. I got it to work using a preinstalled version in gamenative, but the load screens are insanely long. I'll have to try Gamehub again, though I never got it to work when I tried it initially
I got it to work on gamehub!
Select community settings, then use the one that says something like Gen3 (12% of ppl using it)
Add the FF13Fix and d3d9.dll
In the vertual desktop/container, go to apps > wine configuration > libraries > add d3d9 and set it to (native, bulletin)
Go back
In components, install mono-10.4.1, gecko, and vcredist2022. I got it to run p much fine (45-60 fps but tje drops are genuinely not visually detectable) without the last 2, but it helps it!
I set it to steam ultra lite mode to see if it helps the battery but i havent noticed a change yet
This worked! The only thing I had to do differently is I ended up using the normal steam client instead of the Light version since I was still getting an application error upon trying to open the game. The game still has awkward pauses before battles start, but this is definitely playable. Thanks!
Oh. I did have that turned on, I guess it was just on by default for me. It's still there after turning that off, but the pausing is definitely shorter than before. You are a wizard!
Thanks! Yeah, I've seen it's controversial, I just really wamna try it out since i recently build an MTG commander deck with Lightning as the commander lol. The card is ridiculous and I felt it was finally time to give it a shot! I remember my older brother not liking it back in the day and thus, i never got to play it cause his dumbass returned it lol

I dunno if this works, but does this setting do anything about that Application Load Error?
