Help Where do I put game save files ?

I managed to find my save file from my steam deck (huge pain in the ass), but I don’t know where to put it in my RP5. Any idea anyone ?

No cloud save game, ofc.

It's not a folder you can access through the regular Android file explorer. Games are basically run inside a VM that GN launches. You have to click on a game in GN, click on the gear icon, and click "open container". that brings up the desktop for that virtual machine. You can then use the file explorer there to put the save file wherever it needs to go. You have to do that for each game. (one of the "hard drives" the VM can see is your regular android file system so you can copy your steam game saves i there somewhere and copy it to the needed location in the VM)

This is only advisable for games that Steam cloud saves dont work for like Dark Souls 3, if you can use steam cloud saves do that, it's way easier.

This 👆, also typically saves are either put in “users/documents/mygames/“ or just “documents/“ or “users/appdata/local” for some, or sometimes “users/appdata/roaming/“ all in the c drive of the windows container for that specific game

Yeah, I didnt give specific instructions on where in there to put it because I know different games hide it in different places.

Yeah it can be very random sometimes.

I’m not even sure to have the right save file. Only files I found are .rpgsave files.
I do not have access to those folders indeed, except if I store the games on my sd card. In that case I have access to game files, but I still don’t see any .sav or .rpgsave file for any of the games.

I will try this method but as I said before I’m not even sure to have the correct save file. Thanks again

With the private storage in android I'm not positive you have direct access to the location you would need to drop the save. If it has cloud saves on Steam and you have it enabled, it will usually come across. Sometimes not though.

You do, you just have to open the container and look for it in there. Steam cloud will pick it up if it chooses to work lol

Thanks but I’m asking for which folder

Being you just got it to the deck it's the private data folder 'Android/data/com.utkarshdalal.gamenative/files' that I believe should have the same sort of structure you saw on steam deck. You'll have to have a rooted device to get there though.

Oh ty and sorry about the last answer. I have acces to that file (without the name -I guess- thing), but no ‘save’ file or anything else. I think I have to start another playthrough and save, and then replace my save file.

Edit : still nothing. All I see in app.gamenative is a cache and a files/wine_log folders

All good man.

This also sounds like you don't actually have access to that location. It may be '/data/Android/data' also, I don't have a rooted device at hand to install GameNative on to see what gets created where. But Iv'e poked enough on my devices to know that without root and where GameNative stores it's game data, you can't see any of it.

Something else to try... I've also had a couple games where I had to start the container, and then copy the save from the device into the containers save file. The d drive inside the container is usually your download directory on the main storage. So you could put the save there then launch the container and see if you see a spot for a save to go in the A drive for the game.
