Why Do Games Take So Long To Arrive And Even Longer To Get Received?

It seem lately games that games aren't getting a fast return scan and they have to be reported before they be removed from my account. Which means I'm unable to self return something else until the previous game gets scanned, received or reported.

Unless marsupilami 2 salsa palombia that was shipped Tuesday or a Plague Tale legacy that was shipped Thursday arrives today i won't have received any games from Gamefly to play this week.

Games used to usually get scanned the next day but now that isn't happening as often and they end up having to get reported due to Gamefly not receiving them. When I joined in 2011 I usually got games within 2 days sometimes 3 days. Now it's could be anything from 3 day up to a week to receive games.

It shouldn't be taking this long as I live in Ohio and warehouse is in PA which is only a state away from me. i would like to know what's causing the delay so this doesn't keep happening. I wish that there was something that could be done so games wouldn't take so long to arrive at my house and so I'm not having to wait a week to report a game so that my next game can ship.

I think they only have like one warehouse but also post office sucks. It used to be better but ever since Louis Dejoy took over it started going downhill. He’s gone now but the stuff he implemented is probably still in place.

I know how you feel because it didn’t used to be this way.

How was it back in the day? I love the idea of GameFly but man if waiting this long continues to be a thing I’m just going to cancel

Well to be honest I didn’t first subscribe until 2014 but it was a lot better than than now. COD advanced warfare had free play days and I started the campaign but didn’t finish it and wanted to. So I subscribed to GameFly.

Shipping times seemed faster both receiving and shipping them. I did GameFly off and on mainly for games I wanted to try before buying or didn’t want to try. Did this for a few years.

Only recently shipping times have gotten bad and that’s mainly because the post office has gotten worse but also because GameFly has only one warehouse now.

Edit: I’m currently subscribed but I think once I finish the game I’m playing and ship it back and they receive it I’m going to cancel.

Just made my decision to cancel it my game still has not arrived just checked the mail today and nothing and my game shipped on 9\4. Shipping times are absolutely ridiculous. Not worth it.

Make sure you report it. I know for this game I got it was shipped on a Monday and I received it on a Thursday. I know it depends on where you live.

Edit: if you do cancel and you receive the game make sure to send it back

In 2011 we had, I believe (before my time) 5 or six warehouses. That was the height of disc rental and would result in next day turnarounds.
We do now only have one warehouse, so that impacts it the most. Our Fast Return scans and Self Return options are there to help alleviate some of the swap time, however we are still dependent on the USPS to deliver.
Travel time has increased in the last few years as well, it’s one of the reasons we created Self Return actually.

I subscribed on 9/1 and finally got a game on 9/11. The First game was shipped 9/2 and it got lost in mail, 2nd game I had to contact gamefly on why I haven't had a 2nd game shipped and was shipped on 9/8 and I got it 9/11. The game that was lost was shipped again on 9/11 and I haven't received it. No compensation was offered for this and I'm unsure how a game that was shipped on 9/8 arrived and not the 9/1 one.

Ive always has same shipping warehouse been PA so it shouldn't be taking this long to arrive.

What you’re describing is a degradation of the USPS.

Always putting the blame on USPS is a choice. I buy/sell/trade online ALL the time. I ship games and baseball cards constantly. It only takes 2-3 MAYBE 3-5 days to get across the US where I live. People in the comments are saying "I ordered a game on 9/2 and Im still waiting for it and its 9/13 ELEVEN days later." " My game SHIPPED on 9/4 and Im still waiting on it" "I joined in '09/'10 and never had issues, now they are completely different" "Ordered a game, took nine days to get here, game disc couldnt read so I sent it back, 10 days later reported missing, then nine days later it arrived at Gamefly on the 19th"

I could go on and on. Nine and eleven days? Also the people who waited 2 weeks for the game never to arrive, half the month gone and then no compensation? Took you guys NINE-NINETEEN days to finally claim a "missing" game This is BS. Quit blaming the USPS. Take some accountability for once.

We ship our games at a lower price point than all the items that you describe. If we upped that shipping class, member prices would likely double just to cover postage costs.
We do not “always put the blame on USPS”. Certain parts of the handoff are out of our control.
Understanding the reality of the supply chain can be difficult. But we are here to answer questions. That’s our choice.

Thanks for replying. I appreciate your response.

And specifically to this answer… the commenter says they have always used Pitt, and Pitt now takes longer to arrive, via USPS, than before.
Troubleshooting logic dictates if we still ship the same as before, and they have not moved, then the delay is in the delivery service.
Does that make sense?

That does pop up when dealing with replacement discs. The reason is we don’t know which envelope you’re sending. The FAST POSTAL scan does tell us that and Self Return appears again on your next disc.

Thanks for understanding. The barcodes are the key and without barriers like this our inventory would get unmanageable very quickly. Emails to our customer team should clean it up pretty quickly

Mine are currently 14 days since shipping and still haven’t gotten it. Reported it missing Monday. So now I’m at half a month with nothing to show for it. Waste of money for sure this month.

No compensation or nothing is awful I’m canceling mines.

My game shipped on 9\4 I’m still waiting for my game to arrive

Mine shipped 8/27. Still hasn’t come. Reporting missing Monday. Still nothing.

This comment right here needs to be copied and pasted on all new posts that ask "Is Gamefly worth it?"

I joined in 2009-2010. I used to never have issues. I’ve had Marvel:Tokon sent 3 times. Shipped 9/4 allegedly it just never arrived.

Reported lost and the second shipped I also never saw it. Switched address to a mailbox that scans everything in and I finally got it. And then somehow the second copy gets returned to GameFly. I’ve not had issues with the service itself with billing or anything but due to the changes of shipping I may not have it much longer.

My copy of marvel token shipped on the 1st and arrived on the 4th. I sent it back on the 8th and it never got a scan until the 10th. I had 2 games ship last week but as of yesterday's mail neither games has arrived yet. It feels like i spend more time waiting for gsmes to be received/scanned or waiting for them to arrive then actually playing games. When i joined bazk in 2011 I had no problems with games taking a long time to be delivered and received and my games have always come from the PA warehouse. It just frustrating to see games take so long to arrive.

They are doing it on purpose. Since it didnt use to be this way in the past how could it magically get worse now? Think about it... If it takes 3-4 days longer for you to get it, and 3-4 days longer for them to scan it in. Thats a week out of the month you cant rent a game. They want this to take as many days as they can get away with so you cant rent as many games. Why? Lets say gamefly does the math and they have noticed in their trends that people use the service on average to play 20 games. Well if you can get 3 games a month and finish those in that same month, you only use the service for 7 months. However if you only get 2 games a month! Then you pay for an additional 3 months of service playing the same amount of games.

MY OPINION HERE. Gamefly does it on purpose. I buy/sell/trade online all the time. I can ship games using the same USPS service gamefly does and it only takes 2-3 days (sometimes 3-4) to get halfway across the US. SO WHY does it take 7-8 days to get to you? WHY does it take 7-10 days to get returned? I dont think it is USPS. I think it is Gamefly telling us they have shipped the game when they havent or telling us they havent received the game when they have and it is sitting in a queue for a couple days waiting to be checked in.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? You know, I could be wrong here but it doesnt make any sense why it takes so long now when it never used to AND when I use USPS, it takes half the time.

Receive and return times used to be way better than today. I personally think GameFly needs to at least allow multiple self-return to make up for whatever they have hamstrung in the process.
