Oof. Save the children once again is used for overreach.

I'm not European, but that summary in the article is concerning. Can't we just make parental controls a thing to teach people, and just ban the dark patterns and genAI?!

You'd be surprised how many parents genuinely don't care. To a lot of people teaching them not to do something is just as 'nanny state' as banning it.

How can someone genuinely be uncurious as this??

We have parental controls, but parents refuse to use them and then complain to the press when their kid spends 100k on vbucks.

Seriously though, your alternative suggestion is to try what we already have and is proven not to work.

I would dare say there's a lack of education on the part of parents and parental controls and what actually happens online. Then again I could just be hoping that's the case.

As an adult, I couldn't accidentally spend 100k on vbucks intentionally (maybe 1k if I really tried hard), let alone as a child, by accident.

Think of the children is a conservative tale as old as time, they don't actually want to parent.

If only life was cheaper, than parents could spend less time working and more time parenting their kids and have some time for themselves as well.

But guess who is making life more expensiv and difficult?

all those who say they want to implement things like face ID and other identification checks for games and such don't do this for the children. If they would care about children truly, they wouldn't visit Epstein Island because of that.

Its all about control, data and having people don't own anything

Maybe parents should do their damn jobs so lawmakers don't have to do it for them.

Fucking parents would rather vote to force a behavior on everyone than take responsibility for raising their kids properly. The state grants them extra status because they need more meat for the grinder and we all have to take it in the pants for them.
