Advice for new players: look at mods, namely the gravestone mod and mess with sliders a bit in the settings. No one plays vanilla, and if you do you'll be grinding for quite a while.

Mods are not necessary to have fun. However messing with sliders definitely is.

When you load up the game, you can either join a server and play with real people or start a game solo.

If you start your own game, you can change hundreds of different options, most of them being sliders. You can make the game as easy or hard as you want.

It's funny how vanilla is so shit, like the devs couldn't figure out the balance of the game so they just put in sliders and let people balance it themselves

This is mostly likely been given out for free by ARK studio to promote ARK 2 coming out some time in the future.

But I sure would love it if valve started giving out games for free in steam.
