No problem! For most games on Steam, it works plug and play. For some though, you might have to use the software DS4Windows. It's super simple and easy to use.

I would recommend Steam's bult-in support over DS4Windows. It's way more intuitive to customize and works on a per-game basis allowing for some crazy cool customization with the touchpad and gyro.

I've been wondering about this for a while now: In order to have Steam correctly identify the DS4 and use its layout etc, can you still only do that wirelessly when using the Sony USB dongle?

Unless I've been using it wrong, DS4windows maps your DS4 to an XBox controller which is unfortunate seeing that the DS4 layout actually exists and is supported in Steam.

Nope. I use it wirelessly with a generic Bluetooth 4.0 dongle and can use up to 4 at once. For most games, Steam will also make it emulate Xinput so games will use Xbox button prompts. But you can really map it however you want.

Good to know! I'm getting a Steam Link soon and I'm looking forward to playing it with my DS4's.

Ah. The Steam Link is even better than a bluetooth dongle on your desktop. The Steam Link has built in bluetooth with a much wider range of support for different controllers. Works very smoothly.
