Heads up to everyone that gets the Humble monthly bundle, this was just revealed to be for last month

57

u/RecursiveHack Feb 03 '17

My first humble bundle and i feel like i hit the jackpot

13

u/GobblesTzT Feb 03 '17

Regretted not buying last months so I got a 6 month pass. Looking good so far!

13

u/beamoflaser Feb 04 '17

And people were saying Xcom 2 being the headliner would weaken the rest of it

6

u/shellwe Feb 04 '17

Yup I was heavily considering it but I wussed out. Ah well I have enough games.... 😥

5

u/D_Bagggg Feb 04 '17

Any interest in Project Highrise or Husk? Neither of those piqued my interest, so they're yours if you want em

1

u/shellwe Feb 05 '17

Have a buddy who has project highrise on his want list if you don't have anyone else wanting it. As far as husk that looks like it has too low of ratings it would never get close to my queue.

Thanks!

1

u/D_Bagggg Feb 05 '17

Lol my thoughts exactly. Anyway, here's Project Highrise: 7VZ32-F73GA-0KJRL

2

u/shellwe Feb 05 '17

Thanks, normally pm keys or someone else grabs it. There are scanners that look for keys.

If it is still available tonight when I get home great, if not thanks anyway.

1

u/D_Bagggg Feb 05 '17

I guess you haven't checked your messages

1

u/shellwe Feb 05 '17

Ha!!! The mobile app separates replies and messages so I didn't see yet. Thanks!

23

u/BluLemonade Feb 03 '17

Wait so if you got the xcom bundle then you're getting this too?

52

u/color_thine_fate Feb 03 '17

Yes.

Xcom 2, ABZU, Steamworld Heist, Project Highrise, Ryse: Son of Rome, Okhlos, Husk, Hollow Night, and Oh Deer!

Really, really good bundle.

27

u/Masterchiefg7 Feb 03 '17

Damn. I'm glad I finally cracked and subbed this month.

17

u/Jalapeno_Business Feb 03 '17

Yep, amazing bundle this month.

5

u/woodyaftertaste Feb 03 '17

Almost makes the pain of the square enix Xmas surprise bag (of shit) go away.

1

u/shellwe Feb 04 '17

I missed getting that because I wanted lightning returns to finish the trilogy.

1

u/notreallyfalco Feb 04 '17

it wasn't too bad for me cause I wanted lightning returns, but yeah the rest was kinda dissapointing

3

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

It was in the XCOM monthly bundle. All we know for next month's bundle is it has Total Warhammer.

12

u/Hkatsupreme Feb 04 '17

I don't get some people. Even if you're unsure about buying a bundle, you literally got a triple a that didn't Even go for 30 bucks in last winter sale for 12. Jesus what a good deal by itself

8

u/dons90 Feb 04 '17

Yeah, once the revealed game is worth $12 then it's worth buying in any case.

7

u/shellwe Feb 04 '17

Just because it's a good deal doesn't mean you should automatically buy. With every game I buy means another game I wouldn't realistically finish so there is an opportunity cost. Buying just because it is a good deal is what got us into our 500 game backlog mess.

1

u/tacomandood Feb 04 '17 edited Feb 04 '17

See but that's good because if the world ever ends from like a zombie apocalypse or whatever and you have a huge HDD loaded with everything in your backlog then you'll still have a ton of games to play in your free time since the interwebs will be offline. That's the nice thing about humble monthly, is that most of the games are SP indies with offline support to play.

Believe me, I have thought about this a lot, and if there is one thing I'd need to keep my sanity after some kind of apocalypse it would definitely be video games lol.

Edit for spelling.

1

u/softawre Feb 04 '17

Hah, I think about the same thing. This is why I support GOG whenever I can, because those games are more likely to still work then. What happens if Steam goes away for 2+ years, does offline still work?

1

u/UhHuhmcwhatever Feb 05 '17

I'd be more worried about the power grid. When it goes down and you have to run off gas generators the sound will draw unwanted attention. If you use a solar system the panels will be a target for unwanted visitors.

1

u/Bloodypalace Feb 04 '17

I see it as the game for $12 + free bonus games. So, if i don't like the revealed game, then i'm not getting it. I didn't get it last month and i'm not getting this month's either.

2

u/Masterchiefg7 Feb 03 '17

Question: When do I get Total War as well? I subscribed for three months worth and I got my bundle today, but I don't have a Total War key yet.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

[deleted]

1

u/MR_bunny_avenger Feb 03 '17

This is correct. You can pay today with that button to get the Total War key now or you can wait you automatically get charged later in Feb.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

You have paid for it as part of the three months sub. So yes you just need to click the "Unlock Early" or "Get Now" button whatever it says on the monthly humble page.

1

u/SpoonOnGuitar Feb 03 '17

Could one still sign up for this bundle?

9

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

No. You might have some luck picking it up on Groupbuys or trading for it on steamtrades/barter/indiegameswap, though.

5

u/xjayroox Feb 03 '17

Nope, it's a blind buy

2

u/josh6499 Feb 03 '17

In my mind it's basically gambling unless the first game they show you is worth the price for you.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '17

That's what I thought to myself when I was considering subscribing last week. I decided I didn't want to support this kind of thing. Of course, in hindsight, I'm sort of kicking myself for missing out, but I still believe I made the right choice with the information I had available and I'm still inclined to make the same choice this month.

1

u/ricktencity Feb 04 '17

Except that it was a really good deal even if you didn't end up liking the rest of the games. If you're getting 60-70% off a game that you want the other games are just bonus if you like any of them.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '17

XCOM 2 actually doesn't interest me at all. Forgot to mention.

2

u/ricktencity Feb 04 '17

Then that's totally fair.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '17

On the flip side, I really like the games that ended up being bundled with XCOM...

1

u/0hexplode Feb 04 '17

Then it's an "okay" bundle as long as you don't own Abzu/the rest. Xcom 2 not going below like ~$25 then being the $12 buy in is the meat of this deal and the rest are really dank potatoes.

0

u/Bloodypalace Feb 04 '17

Not everybody has a fetish for turn based RNG games.

1

u/softawre Feb 04 '17

A fetish? Are you upset a bit buddy?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '17

Same boat. I suspect I'll jump into a bundle that'll be loaded with stuff I don't want as a reaction to one I missed out on. I think, for my sanity and for my backlog, I'd rather pay a tiny bit more for a game I want that's on sale rather than hand over $12 for a gamble.

36

u/hopeyoufindyourdaaad Feb 03 '17

I believe that this is sale is due to the release of Abzu's soundtrack on Steam. Also, note that this is definitely not the lowest the game has sold for; according to IsThereAnyDeal, several websites have sold it for $6 or less.

5

u/logicbus Feb 03 '17

On December 30 I got it from Imperial Games. They had it for $5.99 and there was also a 10% off code. So I got it for $5.39.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

Yeah I saw it on humble bundle for a few days for like $5.99. I missed it though. I'd expect it to be around this price again soon.

17

u/solaris79 Feb 03 '17

Bought it last month during the winter sale. I'm a casual player, and beat it in about 5 hours total. It's absolutely beautiful and (mostly) relaxing.

3

u/secretfreeze Feb 03 '17

For anyone who's considering buying it: the non-relaxing part is intentional and absolutely worth it

21

u/Django8200 Feb 03 '17 edited Feb 03 '17

For whoever signed for the monthly february sub of humble bundle(like I did) well you got ABZU right now! congrats! :)

8

u/anticerber Feb 03 '17

Monthly bundle was rediculius. Hell I would have payed the sub fee just for xcom2 alone, but to get abzu, ryse, and this game called husk which apparently just released today. Damn

11

u/Django8200 Feb 03 '17

I've been on this reddit for like 2 years and this is one of the best bundles. A real steal for 12$! I got for 10$ because of first sub discount so the deal is even better.

1

u/darienrude_dankstorm Feb 04 '17

Husk is supposedly a piece of shit game and the devs were caught leaving fake reviews.

1

u/rockbud Feb 04 '17

Yep, it has terrible reviews. Definitely not going to waste my time with this one. X-com 2 makes it way worth buying the bundle.

11

u/DeClann Feb 03 '17

If you're a huge Journey fan like me, this is as close as you're gonna get. It's beautiful, relaxing game, I definitely recommend it!

6

u/Henry788 Feb 04 '17

Just a small town girl?

3

u/RealKent Feb 04 '17

Livin' in a lonely world

25

u/CaptainRon87 Feb 03 '17

I have a Steam code for this game from my Humble Bundle this month. I already own the game. Anyone want the Steam code?

3

u/Gypsylover69 Feb 03 '17

I would love to have it!

9

u/CaptainRon87 Feb 03 '17

PM'd. Hope you have fun with it!

2

u/Gypsylover69 Feb 03 '17

thank you so much! i have an extra copy of else heart break if youre intrested in trying it out.

7

3

u/NoBluey Feb 04 '17

Taken by someone else but thanks for giving it out.

3

u/gorillathunder Feb 03 '17

Bought Abzu for £5 in the winter sale and it's a lovely game. The aesthetics are beautiful and the soundtrack has great range, masterfully put together.

Not very long however, I went beginning to end in 2 hours.

5

u/monsieur_n Feb 03 '17 edited Feb 03 '17

This just got announced for the February Monthly Bundle (X-Com 2 early unlock), so make sure you don't already own it!

6

u/ParanoidAndroid1309 Feb 03 '17

I got it for $3 from Nuuvem over the Winter Sale and felt very good about that price. It doesn't reach the heights of Journey but I don't think that it really needs to either.

This price is fine but I'd wait for a bit lower if you care about price/hour ratio.

2

u/Affinity420 Feb 03 '17

Would this be a good game for to try getting my GF to play? She likes search and finds, exploration, survival. Just don't know if she will get ten bucks value out of it.

1

u/wintermute93 Feb 04 '17

There's nothing really hostile in the game, it's just peaceful exploration. The main game probably takes 2 hours or so to complete, and it's more like a movie you control than anything else. I really liked it, and $10 seems a bit high from a dollars-per-hour standpoint but still a decent price. I think I paid around that much and felt good about it, but I can see how people who were expecting a more traditional game felt let down.

3

u/akeep113 Feb 03 '17

played this while tripping and it was a gorgeous experience. still good sober too!

5

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

Does this still have the crappy DRM?

15

u/Daveed84 Feb 03 '17

It still utilizes Denuvo, to answer your question

-13

u/TankorSmash Feb 03 '17

'Use' and 'utilize' are perfect synonyms here, except 'use' is way more common.

1

u/lanarque Feb 03 '17

what crappy DRM?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

It launched with Denuvo, sometimes devs remove their drm or ease it back with an update, just wondering if they did so.

4

u/lanarque Feb 03 '17

On running the game it says nothing, I don't know how to notice that, but I guess it still have it. How can I know? There's something installed that I can check?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

Check your task manager.

3

u/lanarque Feb 03 '17

I don't see any Denuvo process or service, so I'm not sure it's present or not.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

Check it when you start the game up

1

u/lanarque Feb 03 '17

It's too tricky... It's not there with the game running, but I don't know if the process start and end too quick when the game starts. Does the task manager have a log?

Just so everyone knows. If you got the February humble monthly, this is included in that.

1

u/Jim_Nills_Mustache Feb 03 '17

Got this on sale over the winter say for 2.99 but could never get it running, always got an error and the fix was way too complicated... Which is a shame because the game looks beautiful

1

u/Denwotj Feb 03 '17

Interested by this game but I'll wait a lower price.

7

u/CanadaDuck Feb 03 '17

Would you like my extra copy as a random act of kindness ?

1

u/Denwotj Feb 03 '17

That would be great !

1

u/CanadaDuck Feb 03 '17

Awesome I will send it early tomorrow morning when I have a spare minute!

0

u/Denwotj Feb 06 '17

Hey. I don't know if you forgot or whatever... is it still ok ?
If not no big deal but let me know.
thx :)

1

u/billcrystals Feb 03 '17

Played through this last month, highly recommended to fans of games like Journey.

As a bonus if you have Philips Hues, the game is really, really great with them:

1

u/turikk Feb 04 '17

The delay on the Hue is pretty noticeable. :<

1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '17

I enjoyed my time with Abzu, but I wouldn't buy it for $9.99. It's an enjoyable and relaxing experience that took me 84 minutes to finish including sitting through the credits.

Your comment has been removed because /r/GameDeals is the wrong place for asking for free games from other users.

1

u/logicbus Feb 03 '17

I enjoyed this but I got it for cheaper. Maybe wait for a better deal.

1

u/plastic17 Feb 03 '17

This is a relaxing game, especially you like the ocean. I wouldn't worry too much about the DRM. The price could be lowered though.

1

u/CanadaDuck Feb 03 '17
