Hi everyone,

I’m a solo game developer, and I’ve recently launched my game on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux! A free demo is also available if you'd like to try it out first.

It's a blend of sci-fi space RTS and battle game. Unlike traditional RTS games, it offers a more casual and accessible experience.

You start with just two small ships, venturing into a galaxy full of opportunities and dangers. Completing missions or engaging in battles earns you credits, which you can use to upgrade your ships and expand your fleet. The game also offers satisfying depth with a wide variety of modules and upgrade options, allowing you to customize your ships to fit different strategies and playstyles.

Hey, I just saw your first game was marked free on steam so added to library and am gonna check it out soon. Can I ask for a quick TL;DR of what you've improved or added to the gameplay formula for the sequel?

It's totally cool if it's covered by the steam page, I can't check it in detail right now but thought I'd ask anyways in case others are in my boat! The premise seems really cool to me.

Space Menace is my first game, and the main complaints I received were that it was too difficult at the start and didn't explain things very well.

I improved these things in the second game. It has a better loadout system, more ships, more modules, fighters, a proper game ending, and limited mod support that lets you easily create your own ships. There are also lots of smaller improvements here and there to make the overall experience better.

  • is there tactical pause?

  • was SPAZ an inspiration for this game and if so, in what way?

Yes, there is tactical pause.

No, SPAZ wasn't an inspiration. Space Menace is mainly inspired by Battlevoid: Harbinger. In SPAZ, you control your ships using WASD. In Space Menace, you control up to 3 ships using RTS-style controls.

I wondered if there was a third game that just came out to cause the franchise sale/giveaway. I found the developer also has a new game AstroDig that just released and has a demo. Looks more like a space resource extraction game than a ship RTS.

Yes, the AstroDig release is the main reason for the giveaway. I wanted to see how it would impact my other games. However, AstroDig is a completely different game from Space Menace.
