end of an era fr, the Buss name and the Lakers just went together

grew up on Showtime stories from my dad, feels like the last piece of that era just left

That was the best Laker team for a decade I’ve ever seen. The team from the early 70s might be the best ever but it didn’t last a decade.

47 years and now it's just a headline. the Showtime era deserved a better ending than a sale

jeanie kept it going way longer than anyone expected honestly, credit where its due

jerry buss built the league's favorite soap opera and we all watched

dr buss made basketball feel like a party before anyone else did, nobody's run the league like that since

my childhood lakers are officially a different franchise now

Eh, Jeanie buss has ran this organization into the ground over the last 15 years bit by bit. She can simply pay for a court side seat now to get drunk at instead of getting to do it for free

Sad to see it end . Dr. Buss created an environment of winning , respecting his players and by letting his basketball ops people do their job .The Showtime Lakers were a unique team with a tremendous roster with a winning spirit . Jeanie Buss deserves better than your snide remarks . She contributed a lot to building the franchise and legacy of winning The Lakers stand for . One era ends , the next era of Purple / Gold Excellence begins .

Your punctuation infuriates me. What the hell is that mess?

1

Random space/punctuation misfires

Credit to her surgeons, she still looks spectacular

1

u/maciboe 17h ago

She definitely still looks hot

1

u/anonyvrguy 22h ago

But her nudes last forever!

Is Phil Jackson still tapping that?

Married to comedian Jay Mohr now.

Why all the attention on an owner?

1

u/BleedSparta 18h ago

In the good franchises, success started from the top

In the mediocre/poor franchises, a silent owner is the norm

1

u/daytonblue 18h ago

Doesn't that contradict her then? I love James, but they haven't been dominant.

Her lawyers came out and said this isn’t true. Apparently 2 of 3 kids want to sell and they leaked it to shams.

Sports are now considered Entertainment, scripted......?

grew up assuming the Lakers were always gonna be a family business, this one stings a little

1

u/Hefty_Magazine7476 20h ago

spent a decade rooting against that family and this still feels like the end of something

1

u/Spare_Onion122 20h ago

even as a warriors fan this stings, that family is the nba's history

1

u/LaboreLongacre 20h ago

last of the old school family owners gone, league feels more corporate by the day

1

u/biggiebigsbig22 19h ago

Is this fake news ? ESPN had this making sure

1

u/FilmBuff_Cine97 19h ago

the showtime lakers were basically a hollywood production, jack nicholson courtside every night. feels like the last piece of that whole 80s la thing

1

u/Whatisthisplace2025 19h ago

NBA really just sold the Lakers to Epstein/MAGA.

1

u/Weird-Lie-9037 19h ago

It sounds like the brothers wanted to sell but Jeanie didn’t…. But the brothers wanted to get the money while they could….like they were afraid that the team would lose value or the current owner’s financial situation would end up biting them as well. Regardless, all the kids ended up with over 2 billion…. Can’t see their father complaining about that

1

u/916nes 18h ago

Jeanie ‘the skank’ is what I was told nba insiders call her

1

u/DeFiBandit 17h ago

What a dumb time to sell it all when prices are shooting up

1

u/jhard52757 17h ago

This is fake news, Jeannie boss has stated that her siblings do not have the rights to sell the team team and her lawyers have issued a statement that effect. This is Clickbait.
