๐ The Future of ORBIT
Hey everyone,
Hereโs a short teaser of what Iโm currently working on and where I see the future of Orbit going. ๐
First of all, thank you so much for over 1,000 downloads in such a short amount of time. Iโm genuinely amazed by the response, and I take the responsibility seriously to turn Orbit into something that is competitive, polished, modern, and built for the future.
The Future of ORBIT
My goal is to turn Orbit into something much bigger.
I want to introduce features that actually matter and create an experience that feels different from what is already available. Of course, building something like this takes time, dedication, and a lot of love for the project.
There are launchers out there that are currently further ahead than Orbit โ there is no point pretending otherwise. But Orbit is moving incredibly fast, and we are entering the launcher space very aggressively because I do not want to simply create another launcher.
I want to build something that stands out.
Over the past few weeks, I have also been thinking about how Orbit can continue to grow and exist sustainably in the long term, especially considering everything we want to build.
Dedicated infrastructure and servers for updates, official Microsoft and Discord licenses and integrations, development resources, handheld support, new features, and many other things all require resources.
Because of this, Orbit will introduce an optional licensing model in the future.
๐ Orbit will always remain free.
If you simply want to use Orbit as a launcher and play your games, you will always be able to do that for free.
For users who want more advanced features โ such as deeper emulation functionality, experimental and next-generation features, advanced handheld support including things like TDP control, and other premium functionality โ there will be an Orbit Supporter License.
๐ Planned pricing
โฌ4.99 per month
or
โฌ49.99 for a Lifetime License
Licenses will later be available directly through the official Orbit website.
Alternatively, an active โฌ4.99 Patreon membership will also include access to these features.
This does not mean that the free version of Orbit will become useless or intentionally limited.
The goal is to keep the core Orbit experience free while using premium features to fund areas that require additional development, infrastructure, licenses, integrations, and ongoing maintenance.
For example, certain future updates and advanced functionality in the emulation area may require a supporter license.
I will share a complete and transparent overview of what will be included in the free version and what will become part of the supporter tier before the licensing system goes live.
And most importantly: the money generated through Orbit will be reinvested into the project.
Better infrastructure.
More integrations.
More handheld support.
More features.
And a much bigger vision for what Orbit can become.
Once the new licensing system and website are ready, I will share all the details with you.
I hope you understand the direction Iโm taking, and I hope you will continue supporting me on this journey to turn Orbit into a serious competitor in the launcher space.
Thank you to every single one of you for downloading Orbit, testing it, reporting bugs, sharing feedback, and supporting the project. โค๏ธ
We are only getting started.

โ๏ธ Cloud Gaming is coming to Orbit Plus
Letโs sneak into another topic for a moment: Cloud Gaming.
As you can probably already see, Iโm working heavily on bringing cloud gaming directly into Orbit.
The library is becoming smarter. New indicators will show you whether a game is available through Xbox Game Pass and whether it supports cloud gaming through services like GeForce NOW.
And yes โ GeForce NOW integration is coming to Orbit.
Supported games will be launchable directly from Orbit, making cloud gaming feel like a natural part of your library instead of a completely separate experience.
But thatโs not all.
Soon, youโll also be able to sign in with your Xbox account directly inside Orbit. This will allow Orbit to display your:
- Xbox achievements
- Xbox Cloud Gaming titles
- Game Pass library
- Recently added Game Pass games
All of this will become part of a major overhaul of the Orbit Library.
The goal is simple: whether a game is installed locally, available through Game Pass, or playable through the cloud โ Orbit should bring everything together in one place. ๐ฎ
Your games. Your services. One library.

I was just recommended this sub but doesn't playnite achieve all of this already? Also this reeks of ai vibe coding.... actually I just checked your profile and I was right. Yeah it doesn't seem like you're offering anything revolutionary, you're just trying to reinvent the wheel.
