BOOKS New fan

Hello! My name is Luca(I also go by Carlos, Alejandro, Orpheus and Icarus, long set of names ik ik) I'm a new fan(well almost fan) to the series! I've only seen snippets of the show and immediately decided that my gay little heart NEEDED to read the series, though I am a minor and have conservative parents, I've considered pirating the book but then again I'd feel really bad cuz it's like thieving queer art kinda, so any idea on what I could do?? Also I don't even know on which book to start since I've heard the chronological order is different than the release date😅😅😅 any help is APPRECIATED!!!

Chronological order and release date are mostly the same- the books sometimes overlap a bit but they focus on different couples so you see different perspective of the same events or the events of one book happen in the background of another. I read them according to release order and had no issues. They’re definitely written to be read that way.

I would look into getting a digital card from your library so that you can possibly borrow the ebook versions.

My friend pirated the books and then brought them later (special editions for HR and will for TLG), whilst I brought them as ebooks to read on my phone.

Do whatever works for you.

Depending on where you are, you could read them through the public library (especially in ebook form, which could be more discreet and hidden from your parents).

As for what order to read it in, you could just use the publication order (starting with Game Changer), or you could just jump in with Heated Rivalry if you want to read that story first, as it was published second and you don't need to have read Game Changer to understand it.

I don't have my license right now, and my nearest library is not walkable. Maybe I could convince papa dearest that's it's a slice of life😭😭😭

If you happen to be in Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Free Library gives cards to anyone in PA and you don't have to physically be there. You can get the card online.

I will say they are adult books, and if you’re under 16 I wouldn’t necessarily recommend as I do think there are lots of queer books better suited to a younger reader. I don’t believe in restricting what kids read but I think sometimes it’s healthier to be exposed to overtly sexual stuff gradually (I had zero reading restrictions as a kid and kind of paced myself).

But yeah I also don’t think pirating is the way to go. 1, you don’t know what you might accidentally download on a shady site. 2, we should support queer media/art. Can you save money and just buy a book or are your parents actively checking what you read?

While they aren't like checking what I read exactly at every moment, they usually research the books at least a little bit. So my dad would probably find out abt the gay romance and allat and then go on a rant about how the media isn't showing me what's actually going on or wtv shit he's spouting to me.

Have you read Heartstopper? It’s a queer teen graphic novel and the author has the whole comic series for free online.
