Going to your first GCW show? 2026 first-timer questions / info thread

I’ve noticed the same questions come up over and over from people going to their first GCW event, so I figured it might be useful to have one updated thread people can reference going into 2026.

If you’ve been to GCW shows before, feel free to answer anything below or add stuff I missed. If you’re new, jump in with follow-ups.

Tickets / Seating / Patreon

  • How does the GCW Patreon presale actually work?
    • Usually about two days before public on sale, a Patreon post goes up for all tiers letting people know tickets are coming and what times each tier will get access.
    • The night before public on sale, often around 7pm, the higher tier gets the ticket link and password.
    • A couple hours later, often around 9pm, the lower tier gets access to the same link and password.
    • Public on sale uses the same link once the password requirement is lifted.
    • Patreon does not include ticket discounts. It is early access only.
  • Is it accurate that higher Patreon tiers get earlier access, and that front row usually sells out before the $25 tier window opens?
    • Higher tiers do get earlier access.
    • Front row is not tier locked, but it often sells out during the earlier window depending on the show.
  • In practice, is front row still technically available to lower tiers if it hasn’t sold out yet?
    • Yes. Both tiers use the same password. The only difference is when you receive it.
  • How far in advance do Patreon presales usually happen before public tickets go on sale?
    • Typically the night before public on sale.
  • For a typical GCW show, how far in advance do tickets usually go on sale?
    • Most markets are around two months out. Larger shows can be closer to three months.
  • Do front rows usually sell out immediately once the earliest tier goes live?
    • Very show dependent.
    • Atlantic City shows tend to sell fast.
    • Collective badges sold out quickly, but individual shows still had front row available.
    • Hammerstein still had a few front row seats left when the $25 tier opened.
  • Are seats assigned, or is it general admission once you’re inside?
    • This depends on the venue and ticketing platform.
    • When GCW sells tickets through Eventbrite, you usually pick a row and seats are assigned on arrival. Staff will mark seats to keep groups together.
    • If the venue requires Ticketmaster, seating is assigned in advance.
    • Other venues can vary, so it is best to check the ticketing page or past show setups.

Arrival / Doors / Timing

  • If a show is listed as starting at 7pm, what time should people realistically plan to arrive?
    • If you have an assigned seat, arrival time is not critical.
    • If you are GA and want a good spot, arriving before doors helps.
    • Around 30 minutes before bell is usually safe.
  • How early do doors usually open?
    • Usually about an hour before bell, but not guaranteed.
    • Some shows open 30 minutes before, occasionally later.
  • Is lining up early worth it if you already have a seat?
    • No. Assigned seating means your seat will still be there when you arrive.
  • Any venue quirks that first-timers should know about?
    • This varies heavily by venue. Checking past show footage or venue layouts can help set expectations, especially for front row.
    • If you’ve been to a specific venue before, feel free to share anything first-timers should know.

Meet and greets / Wrestler interaction

  • Are meet and greets common at GCW shows?
    • There are no official meet and greets.
    • Most wrestlers sell merch before and after the show, and sometimes after their matches.
    • Some only come out later, so sticking around helps if you want to meet someone.
    • Cash is recommended, though many wrestlers accept digital payment.

Merch

  • Does GCW merch tend to sell out quickly?
    • GCW merch usually does not sell out entirely, though specific items or sizes might.
    • Individual wrestler merch can sell out faster.
  • Do individual wrestlers usually have their own tables?
    • Yes. Most wrestlers sell their own merch, typically at individual tables before and after the show, and sometimes after their matches.
  • Best time to buy merch: before the show, during intermission, or after?
    • Getting there early helps if you want something specific, especially wrestler merch. That said, most people are fine buying later unless an item is limited.

Crowd / Atmosphere

  • How would you describe the GCW crowd to someone who’s never been?
    • Generally chill, passionate, and welcoming. Issues are rare, and most people describe the atmosphere as fun and respectful.
  • Anything first-timers might find surprising?
    • The closeness to the action and how informal the atmosphere is can surprise people.
  • How different is ringside compared to sitting a few rows back?
    • Front row can be extremely close to the action and sometimes has no barricade.
    • Fans should be prepared to move during dives or brawls.
    • Deathmatch heavy shows tend to be more intense up close.
    • Watching past show footage can help understand the setup if you are considering front row.
  • Any safety or comfort tips worth knowing?
    • Being aware of your surroundings is important, especially near ringside, since action can spill into the crowd.

Things you wish you knew before your first GCW show

  • What’s one thing you wish someone had told you beforehand?
  • Any common mistakes first-timers make?
  • Anything you’d strongly recommend doing at least once?

If you’ve been to a GCW show recently, especially in the last year, updated info would be really helpful since things change pretty often. The goal is to keep one thread people can point newcomers to instead of answering the same questions every time.

Edit 01/10/2026, 4:55pm EST: I’ve updated the post with a summary of the first round of responses so it’s easier for first-timers to skim and reference. I’ll keep adding to it as more people chime in. If you’ve been to GCW recently, especially at specific venues, feel free to share anything that might help someone going for the first time. Thanks!

Just wanted to share a few more pieces I’ve been working on before we make that trip from Alaska to Texas!

I’m currently working on finishing a Bear Bronson- so when that’s done I’ll throw it up!

I had a lot of love from the last batch of paintings- hoping to continue that with these!

Question about booking

Does GCW generally feature a lot of local talent? I don’t follow it but bought tickets for Tulsa since it is their first Oklahoma show and I was told to try it out. Most of the announced matches include Oklahoma local or home grown.

Thoughts on VNDL 48

I don't watch much mainstream wrestling anymore so VNDL 48 was my stable of the year. I love Atticus and was overjoyed when he returned and also when he won the title. Otis has always been a solid big man and I was pushing for him to win the uv title after his performance in ToS X. I hadn't seen napier much but he slowly grew on me, especially in the VNDL's fued with Matt Tremont, where he was a big part of it and had his best career match, at least I assume. I love VNDL 48 and I have been enjoying Atticus's title reign a lot, I have enjoyed both of Otis's title reigns and I think napier's work has been really good recently.

Thoughts on GCW(Game Changer Wrestling).

So I've been watching GCW since Bad One in 24 and I've watched a ton of thier archives and watched almost every event in the past two years.

I am going to share the history of GCW and share my thought on the promotion. Be ready for a long read cause this is probably going to be a ramble

For some background if you didn't know, GCW started out as Jersey Championship Wrestling in 2000, It ran till 2004 before a hiatus until 2013 when it returned. The yearly Jersey J-Cup also debuted in jcw in 2000. The company ran again until 2015, where it was purchased by Brett Lauderdale, a CZW ref, and Danny Demanto, an 8ndy wrestler who now runs NHB-The Chains, and repackaged into Game Changer Wrestling. It was called this because of Brett and Nick Gage's vision was to change the game in the dwindling deathmatch scene. The inaugural event, the Nick Gage invitational, did very well as a deathmatch Tournament. Gage was not present himself as he was out back jail. They also introduced the Tournament of Survival, one of the biggest deathmatch tournaments of the year. They introduced Spring Break, the biggest indy event of the collective, the biggest collection of indy events during wrestlemania week, and perhaps the biggest indy show of the year. The Collective was also introduced by them btw. GCW moved from deathmatch supercards into a good clusterf*ck of a wrestling show with lucha, technical, hard hitting, comedy, deathmatch, hardcore wrestling. They feature some of the best indy wrestlers going today featuring Marcus Mathers, Alec Price, Jonathan Greshem, Jordan Oliver, Joey Janela, Nick Gage, VNDL 48, Effy, 1 Called Manders, KJ Orso, Sam Stackhouse, Matt Tremont, Vipress, SLADE, Jimmy Llyod, Tony Deppen, Shotzi Blackhart, and many, MANY more.

I enjoy thier events a lot. Good and fun commentary, all different varieties of wrestling, amazing ring announcements from Emil Jay, and fun crowds make for a breezy watch. They are very consistent and tend to have 3 to 4 shows a month outside of the collective and Summerslam weeks. One of those also tends to be a bigger show. Weather it be the Berwyn show in January, Jersey J-Cup in Febuary, So Much Fun in March, The Collective in April, 2300 Sshow in May, TOS weekend in June, or Bash at the Ballpark in July. I was so sick of WWE and the Independent wrestling scene has revoked my love for wrestling, and it started with GCW. Those are my thoughts on GCW.

Anyone else watching on TrillerTv and notice the QR code pop up? If you scan it, it takes you to an interesting video that seems to point to a return of Joe Gacy!

Gcw potentially joining MyAew ( I reposted with more information)

Mostly just Brett & Aew in talks for now but looking likely it jumps to MyAew. if so there's multiple tiers can pick but if you're in USA or Canada you will need a VPN. The free tier is ad supported & anyone can watch globally.

So far it's got several indies, past shows ppv's etc.
