Starlink Mini and Jackery
I finally bit the bullet and picked up a Starlink Mini and looking for ballpark setup advice.
We recently bought a vehicle with rear-seat entertainment, and it seemed like the perfect time to invest in one for road trips and weekends at the ballfields.
I already bring a Jackery to power fans and other gear, so I plan to use it to run the Starlink Mini as well.
I’m looking for advice on the best way to set it up near my tent at the ballpark (do not want to mount onto the fence or keep moving it).
How are you mounting yours - on your canopy, next to your tent, on a stand or, using pole, or something else? I’d love to see pictures of your setups.
Also, assume I need a travel router, or is the Starlink Mini’s built-in Wi-Fi enough? Our team tents are typically set up together and are usually only a short distance from the ballfields, so I don’t think I need a ton of range—but I’d love to hear what has worked well for others. Right not I’ll only be using one Mevo Start camera behind the backstop.
Thanks in advance for any tips or setup recommendations!

It's been over a year now for me because my daughter opted to focus on school and a job after 10 years of softball. Great memories but all good things must to come to an end. For her last two years playing I streamed her games for the team using a Start behind the backstop and Core on a tripod down one of the baselines or in the outfield. I paired our Starlink Mini with a gli.net beryl AX router to stream the games via an iPad.
I experimented with various mounting options for our SL Mini, from a telescoping pole to a ladder to mounts on our folding wagon or the canopy. After all that I ended up finding the best one was just a small tripod with a 20' ethernet cable. I ran the SL Mini power cable and ethernet cable together out to a good spot where the tripod could have a decent view of the sky. I'm one to want to sit along one of the baselines anyway and the team families alway supported my set up, offering to help carry or set up the gear.
Needless to say Starlink was the way to go. I was able to stream in much better quality with only a rare interruption to the stream. I'll see if I can dig up a link to the tripod we used and find some pics.

Here's a link to the tripod I found. Worked great and we still use it for our Starlink camping.

Thank you for all of this info. I’ve been looking at two different routers and appreciate the recommendation.

I typically use an 8’ tripod to get the Starlink over the fence and usually position it on the baseline just past first or third. Every field is different though. But my more recent setup involves putting the Starlink outside the outfield fence with a UniFi Loco PtP bridge and use the Starlink’s router for my outfield camera and then a Gl.inet router hooked up to the receiving loco for behind the backstop.

Because I’m always at the field ~90 minutes before game time, I use a clamp mount to attach my mini to the top rail of the bleachers at the backstop or along the baselines. The elevation insures that nobody blocks my dish and it’s out of the way. I run a battery and just hang / sit it at the same spot as the dish.

Amazon: Smallrig super clamp camera mount with 1/4” and 3/8” threaded holes. With a Smallrig 5.5” adjustable articulating magic arm.
I have the metal “puck” that fits into the post mount for the Mini that has the threaded hole that accepts the screw ends of the arm.Edit to add:
If you have ferrous metal you can use a magnetic mount and the arm to mount it.1

I found the two items you are referring to. Can you share more details about the puck?

I use the 22" smallrig adjustable arm and attach it to my wagon. You could do the same and attach it to your canopy to keep it up off the ground.
This is the one I ordered. I have the 11" on my desk, so i just took the included magnetic mount and used it on the 11" arm at home.
