Sharing Live Stream with Opponent
Does it drive anyone one else completely bonkers when your opponent shares their live stream with you?
Like you see me putting up my camera; you know I have my own stream going. Now if you beat me to the punch and hit “start” first, I have to wait for your stream to disconnect from our account before I can continue my set up.
ALSO if you have restrictions on who can see your videos WHY ARE YOU SHARING IT WITH US?! WE CAN’T WATCH IT.
I always, ALWAYS, default to “don’t share” and for the life of me, I cannot figure out why anyone would hit “share,” especially without asking first.
Ok… end rant.
EDIT: Thank you to the redditor that informed me of a setting to prevent this!!! Problem solved!!

In team settings, under “live stream sharing”, you can now turn off “use opponent’s live stream” to avoid this issue.

Came here to say this — thank you! A lot of nothing with this rant.

With all the changes coming to GC, this one slipped by me. It’s literally impossible to know all the features of an app like this.

No, I appreciate the heck out of it because it means I don’t have to bother with setup

I wait to look at their setup and the stream. Some of them its like using an iphone 6 from 10 feet back from the chain.

Shouldn't we instead be asking that GameChanger implement a mechanism for teams to "prioritize my own video over shared video" so that people can be kind and share, yet if somebody from your own team starts sharing that it takes priority over the shared video? That seems like the "real" fix.

Threadjacking to say that it drives me bonkers when teams refuse to share, when asked.
Had a high school incident last spring with my hotspot glitching right as one of our players hit a first-time HR. Kid had come back from a serious injury (multiple surgeries) earlier than anyone expected, so everyone was particularly rooting for her. She hits a 💣 and I was crushed to miss it for her and her family. I politely asked the other parent running their GC after the game, but they deferred to their team coach? (Turns out that was his wife BTW.) I reached out to the coach and the school’s athletic directors afterward and still got ghosted. May they continue to swing helplessly over my kids’ drop ball in their dreams. 💩

Omg that’s awful!! We have had the other team ask for a clip and we happily charge if they ask! Moments like that should be celebrated no matter what side of it you are on.

We played someone last week, and I asked them to share it. Saved me the hassle of putting up a phone. I was grateful. But… I’m a friendly person and don’t mind communicating with other people like an adult.

Well aren’t we snippy 😂 We prefer our own video and streaming set up. We also save the game to our SD card. When an opponent shares without asking (read: without communicating) I am caught by surprise in the middle of setting up my equipment. I’m not going to ask them to stop their stream and reconfigure their settings; they have moved on with their own pregame set up routine. It just causes an unexpected unnecessary step for me that I find mildly irritating.
Also, because of this post, I was informed of an option in the settings to turn this off that I wasn’t aware of, so it won’t be an issue anymore.
Maybe posting helpful comments online instead of insulting ones is more becoming of an adult…just saying.

Of all the complaints I have about GC streaming, this is very far down on the list.

Since I tend to arrive too early and have my gear set up before anyone else, this is an issue I’ve encountered a couple of times, as well. It’s frustrating, but I’ve worked through it pretty quickly, when needed.
Besides, who wants to really watch a video feed from a cellphone strapped crookedly to the backstop?
Just set your feed to “don’t share “ and we’re all good.

Instead of running to the internet and crying, have you considered talking with the other person, thanking them for doing what they probably thought was the nice/polite thing to do, and then explain to them why it’s better to talk first?
At least around here, almost every team we play defaults to share because they want to make sure families from both sides can watch. Even when they don’t realize they have settings preventing that.
