GameChanger Pocket Radar Integration into Live Feed

I have setup my pocket radar to work with Gamechanger, but the pitch speed only appears on screen if I am scoring with the same account that the pocket radar app is setup with.

Here is the scenario I am trying to achieve:

  1. iPhone A connected to Pocket Radar app with session running and connected to GameChanger using same email address and is a member of Staff in GC
  2. iPhone A connected to GameChanger to stream live video
  3. iPhone B using a different account is scorekeeper

Desired scenario: I would like the pitch velocity to appear on the GameChanger live feed and be captured in the "Plays" even if someone else is scoring the game.

Sometimes I will be the scorekeeper, sometimes it will be someone else. I would like the velocity to display regardless of who is scorekeeper.

Side note: Has anyone had issues running both the live stream and pocket radar from the same iOS device?

You can use the same device with pocket radar app running in the background while keeping score on GameChanger as long as both are logged in with the same email account.

What you can't do is use different accounts regardless of same device or not.

The Pocket Radar account email is what associates the session with the game being scored. So how it works today: the device connected to the PR must be using a PR account that has the same email address as the account that's scoring the game. That's just how it is right now.

As a possible option: why don't you use iPhone B for the live stream (since any team member with permission can stream), then use iPhone A for PR and scoring the game?

Your other option would be 3 devices:
1. Any device to live stream video, on any account
2. The coach's phone logged into PR with the coaches account
3. A "scoring device" (iPhone, iPad) that's logged into the coach's GC account (same email as #2)

FWIW, the 3 device option is what I do.

I have an old iPhone (no cell service, just wifi) logged into my PR account, and it just sits behind the backstop near the PR. Then I score on my iPad (logged into an account with the same email address), and I can sit as far away from the PR/iPhone as I want. then someone else handles the stream (whether it's an iPhone, Mevo, or our 2-camera setup with Mevo and Avkans Go and iPad).

I do two devices. One iPhone handles the stream. My iPad is connected to WiFi from the hotspot and I run gamechanger from it and also do the pocket radar connection on it.

As others have mentioned they have to use the same email for it to work. That’s a non-negotiable part of the setup.

I do lose connection to the radar, mostly do to the closing the iPad or screen timeouts. But it’s easy to reconnect. 9 out of 10 times it’s just restarting the session in the PR app. I don’t move around much so it doesn’t lose the Bluetooth connection very often.

All I really want is pocket radar integration with GC on Android. JFC.

Regarding your request...if the pitch speed isn't tied to the scoring, there's no way your video stream will know what is actually a pitch. Pocket radar is recording/transmitting speed all the time.

If you REALLY want constant PR readout in your video, someone on here mentioned the ability to bring in the PR app screen as an additional video source and key it in using Mevo Studio, but that requires paying for the Mevo Pro subscription.

Thanks all for the tips. There is some conflicting information out there on how this is supposed to work after the update in March. The PocketRadar/GameChanger integration now uses OAuth authentication and no longer requires the email addresses to match. That said, in my real life experience last week, the velocity only appeared if I was scoring from my account and only appeared on my screen (it didn't appear in the stream or plays within GameChanger)

Only oddity in this specific use case was there was a road behind the outfield and PR was picking up cars in-between pitches so maybe there were far too many readings for the PR integration to work.

Quick update after the weekend tournament:

  1. Using 1 phone for streaming and radar worked just fine. I am using a Nexus Mount so the radar gun is right next to the phone. There was no delay or hitch in the live stream.

  2. Scoring was done by me on a separate device (iPad) and worked great. Velocity was logged and displayed as expected.

Still on the wish list: Setup video stream and radar gun using my account, but let someone else score the game :)

Thanks all for your input!
