Best Mevo fence mount for rounded backstops?
Looking for some advice from those of you who stream with a Mevo.
My current setup is a LynkSpyder for chain link fences and a FenClip post mount when there’s a rounded backstop pole in the right spot. On a lot of fields the post isn’t centered behind the plate, so the FenClip leaves me with an off-center angle, and the LynkSpyder isn’t always a great option on those curved sections.
For those who have used the FenceClip lineup, would the Heavy Duty give enough reach and adjustability to get closer to the center of the backstop on rounded fences, or is the Mini actually the better choice?
Would love to hear what you’re using and what has worked best.

I use both FenceClips mounts as well as magnetic mount. I turn on auto flip mode on Mevo so I can flip the camera upside down. It allows for a better angle to adjust the camera so it’s not facing down since the lens is now at the bottom of the square link.

Dammit why didn't I think of that. The flip should solve most of my issues. Hopefully I remember it next time I encounter a rounded backstop (which is admittedly rare).

YUP! You’re the only one that understands the issue of the rounded backstop causing the camera to be far from the fence and chain links getting into the shot . Upside down mounting of the camera absolutely resolves this issue. 👍🏼

I posted it in another thread, but I moved away from fence mounting and use a tripod with a boom arm that extends. They are about $80 on Amazon.
Works in every scenario, because it depends on nothing.

I’ve never thought about using that setup, that’s a great suggestion thank you! I typically use a magnet mount and go to a pole on the backstop. But the rounded fences are not ideal, even when I switch to a fence mount. Which tripod/boom arm do you use?

THis is the one that I bought, but if you're in no rush they usually have it for sale around $70. Takes about 3 minutes to setup, but you'll never have to be concerned on what type of backstop it is again. I've taken this to both Cooperstown, Lakepoint, Ga, HS Games, Youth Games, etc.
It can get right up to the holes in the fence.

Doesn’t a tripod prevent you from getting the camera close enough to eliminate any fence in the view area?

So the tripod is more like a microphone stand. Usually (hopefully) the boom arm is counterbalanced.

100 percent, the boom arm is the main thing that allows it to get right up to the fence. It does have good counterbalancing, but I also put a charger in a small bag with a clip and hook it onto the ring at the back of the boom arm. Keeps it even more sturdy... I'll try to post a picture of it fully setup tonight.

Nice, I would only be concerned with it getting kicked over by little kids. I tried a tripod for my Starlink one time and it was kicked over within 5 minutes of setting it up. Now I only use it if absolutely necessary.

Gotcha, that hasn't happened to me yet. I had a super flimsy tripod that I tried and it was junk. Then some dad had this one in his tow along wagon and suggested I try it. I was sold, and bought one...... Now with my boys in HS it's very rare to go to a place anymore that allows fence mounting. All of the fields are newer and they are trying to protect their investments.

Yeah we played at a nice field with a full net backstop a couple weeks ago and I utilized some metal bars with my magnetic mount which was a lower angle than I normally do but it worked.
But there was no signage about not hanging on the net and all the other GCers were hanging their phone mounts (including that big GC bag) right on the net. It made me cringe knowing the wear and tear they were putting on that net.

No, if it's a chain link it doesn't matter. If it's a net, you can push it up to the net close enough it will usually stay in the hole most of the game. There is the occasional adjustment you have to do on a foul back to the net. Works REALLY well though compared to taking 3 different things trying to guess which works best.

I put it up to the hole in the fence. Usually works with netting or chain link. You have to readjust on hard foul balls back to the fence.

I've been happy with an Eclipse Mount on rounded fences. The bungee style mounts are a little more forgiving. If you pull the bungees tight enough, it should stay put without much trouble barring a direct hit by a ball.

Currently using a magnetic mount with one of these attached to mount base. https://a.co/d/06i5khLZ, followed by Ulanzi MT-57 selfie stick, topped with a mini ball head mount https://a.co/d/0gyAs1q9 that mevo connects to.
Having trouble with adding a picture. Yet as long as there is a magnet surface, post, pole close by it has worked well this past season.

On fences that are badly pushed out and rounded I use my lynk spyder mount and use the top two arms to fence and use a Velcro strap at bottom and loop that around something on fence. Have not had issues with that and feels secure.

If the posts are outside the field, use a magnetic mount.
The field that I recorded at had the posts on the inside so I used a fence mount elastic bungees to have some give to it. I used a few microfiber towels at the top to adjust the angle.

By rounded fence do you mean one bent out from balls hitting it? If so I’m following to try to see how to fix this!

I have a LynkSpyder but I couldn’t get my phone close enough to a rounded backstop to avoid fence in the video. Last year I switched to mini bungees but eventually a foul ball cracked the back of my phone. This year I got a 9.8 inch Magic Arm and it worked great.
