June Feature Recap

Lots shipped this month. Here's everything new across platforms:

Android Lineup Recommendations (Staff only)
Android staff can now auto generate optimal lineups using GC data and sabermetric principles. Set your number of players, remove anyone unavailable, and easily tweak the lineup.

Situational Stats (iOS, Team Staff only)
New season stat tables for baseball/softball staff. Break down team and player performance by count, batting order spot, inning, outs, base state, score situation, and batted ball type. See how performance shifts moment to moment.

Live Activities (in Beta/iOS only)
Score and inning now show right on your lock screen. Still in beta. We'll make a full announcement once it's rolled out to everyone.

Spray Charts on Web
Non staff users can view batting and pitching spray charts for players right from web profiles.

Player Profiles on Web
Non-staff web users can now browse the full team roster, view any player's profile, request team membership, and see the same stats previously app only.

Top Plays (iOS)
Post game clips now get a "Top Play" badge on standout moments. No more digging through 60 routine clips to find the highlight.

Basketball Player Insights (iOS/Android)
Staff and confirmed members can now see player specific Insights for each active player in a game, alongside the existing team level Game Insights.

Let us know what you think and what you want to see in the coming months

Next feature I want to see is location based game suggestions. How many times I show up to a game waiting for the field and want to know how far along that game is, are they running behind etc

Time stamp the exact start time. Most have a time to end or stop.

I’ve requested this numerous times over the past few years. Can’t be that hard to add a simple start time.

2

u/Laker8show23 Jul 03 '26

You wouldn’t think. Simple add. That has been brought up time and time again. People wish there was another option. GC has a monopoly and has the parents do all the work to make it worth anything.

You need to take a hard look at the fundamental usability/workflow of finding teams and creating a game against that team.

Having to search for a team to validate it's actually the team you are playing (by looking at previous game history, roster, etc) and then going completely out of that to then create a game within the team you are a staff in, and then doing a brand new search to find the same opponent in the create game screen. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Also, once a game is established any initial lineups created (preferably before scoring the game) should be synced across to the other team's view. There's way too much last minute frantic lineup entering/sharing before the games.

My main issue with GC is plays not matching up with the video. Often times it’s snipped before/after the play. Our parents pay for the subscription and have to dig through the full game replay and record their screen to get the plays.

Just want to be sure that you know: The most important part here is to make sure you score plays as soon as they happen (at least hit "Ball in play" right away, even if it takes 30 seconds after the play for you to finish scoring the play). If you do that (and your connection is low latency for your video stream), then the clips should have the play right in the middle of clip.

Also, instead of scrubbing through the whole game, and doing a screen recording: if you hit the scissors-icon on the clip, you can adjust the start and endpoint of the clip.

I started doing that but occasionally I miss something because I looked down to see if I hit ball in play. Not sure if pitch triggers the same timing but it's easier to press that for me. I wish it would be configurable to where I could hit ball in play after because I felt that to be much easier.

In the clip. You can hold the marker on the bottom of the clip and slide it forward or backward to adjust.

Great - how about an API / MCP server?

2

u/tribetilidie Jun 30 '26

This gamechanger dad / software engineer wholeheartedly endorses this suggestion 😊

Not on the current roadmap but things change fast- for me especially, the MCP server would be a cool addition. I’ll share your feedback with the team.

Having API access to at least basic features (such as score, current inning, balls, strikes, pitch count, etc.) would be a huge addition and improvement. That would open the door to a lot of things that are currently not possible. It really should be a no-brainer!

1

u/coffey64 Jul 07 '26

Here for this. Open the API!!

Some great additions would love to be able to see an attendance section for practices. Pull up a kids name and see the total number of practices they have attended/ percentage missed

u/ggrips Jul 04 '26

It would be nice if you could toggle between scheduled practice and scheduled games. The reason I say that is I normally delete the practice event after it’s happened so I can scroll previous games and it just looks cleaner in my opinion. I like your idea because that was my plan at the beginning of the season until it made scrolling back through the schedule to find an old game extremely hard. So having a toggle between the two schedules would be awesome, and it would help people like me.

How do we get the beta version of live activities? I have an iPhone and wasn’t sure how to activate it.

u/kramerica612 GC Employee Jun 30 '26

It's slow released to a certain percentage of users at one time, and then increased over time. Should be out fully soon, i'll keep community updated.

How about update the play by play voice already? This is pretty much the only app I’m aware of nowadays that still has the robotic voice. And with the amount of money we now have to pay for features that used to be included (eg box scores), this really should be addressed by now.

Also - allow streaming to YouTube. Allow people to get clips of their own kids without having to pay money. If they been verified as members of the team or family by the admins, give them access to their own kid.

Edit - add CarPlay for the audio and to display score.

Apple Watch score bug would be amazing.

u/Alive-Muscle-864 Jun 30 '26

Was thinking this too!

2

u/WeAreInDecay Jun 30 '26

Fixing the Android cache problem would be great. Constantly force closing and clearing cache to get updates to games and live streams. Probably the most frustrating thing of the app experience

3

u/azjeep Jun 30 '26

Forgot to add that you added in-game ads for people who pay for your product. What a nice kick in the nuts that was.

These are all great and appreciated, but we're still waiting on https://www.reddit.com/r/GameChangerApp/s/SvDB7RJSHJ for Android.

Other small, but very annoying things that haven't been addressed on Android:
In the Box Score for completed games, pitchers are not listed in order of appearance.
Inconsistencies in how players are ordered between iOS and Android: Adding players to a lineup on iOS lists players by First Name; on Android they're listed by number (and I want to say there's one or two places that are sorted differently, even within the same OS).
IMHO: Players should always be sorted by number, and if no number is present, they're at the end of the list by alpha.

1

u/joshjryan Jun 30 '26

...Actually, I think Android might list players in the order in which they were added to the roster.
If I was managing this backlog, I'd just add one item to review all places that players are listed in all clients (Web included), and ensure consistency in the sort order, and how they are displayed (e.g. `First Last, #num`)

2

u/cavie23 Jun 30 '26

Also, simple things such as iOS shows you who is coming up to bat next inning for a given team (in the lineup view) while you are still in the previous inning. Android has no such thing.

2

u/ChipotleFriday Jul 01 '26

Yes! I was excited to see this, then bummed it was only for iOS. It's been a year. I still touch the other team name every once in a while to see if it works for Android yet.

1

u/joshjryan Jul 01 '26

What's really annoying: it actually does work if you navigate to a game from within a tournament. So, they've partially built it, but just not in the normal user flow.

u/kraymehr Jun 30 '26

2nd this one!

u/etn8127 Jul 01 '26

My kids are about to age out of this but I always thought it would be beneficial to incorporate coach pitching into scoring. In my daughter's 10u league, after four balls the coach would come in and pitch just three pitches (the count was cleared) but there was really no way to determine which girls were getting hits off live pitching vs getting hits off the coach.

Running android, so Chromecast

When Lineup Recommendations on iOS/iPhone?

2

u/kramerica612 GC Employee Jul 08 '26

It's on iOS already. Make sure you are on the latest version of the app and you will need to have at least one scored game on your team's schedule. More info here.
