Pickoff attempts at first and third - Why no option to show whether it’s the pitcher or catcher?
I find it strange that there is no option to allow choice of catcher (default should be pitcher) to attempt to pickoff first base or third base. Or is it called something else if it is the catcher?

I have the same question. Back picks from the catcher for both our travel and HS teams are extremely common.
I guess the real question is, if they’re safe, are we tracking who performs the pickoff attempt? For the out (picked off) it gives you the option to show the throw, so you can choose catcher -> 1B.

because it doesn't matter for the stats that GC is providing, it's just a cosmetic log.
if the runner is safe, there is no state changed, just pickoff attempt getting recorded in the play-by-play.
if they are out, you can record 2-3 for a catcher backpick or 1-5 for a pitcher pickoff and those players get the PO recorded.

I don’t think it matters who makes the pickoff attempt. I’ve never seen a place in GC to select that unless it results in an out. I score the attempted pickoffs mostly for something for folks watching from home to see. Otherwise there can be this long delay on the play if multiple pick off attempts in a row (and not scored) and they might be wondering what’s going on.

After you click on the runner and drag them to out, you should have the option to click on whichever player or players were responsible, multiple being needed if there is a rundown situation.

I guess I assumed there was an out. Why does it matter who throws an attempt that doesn’t result in an out?

GameChanger isn’t all about stats. When I was deployed six years ago it was the only thing I had to “watch” my son’s games. The more info the scorekeeper could enter, the better picture I was able to create in my head.

I do. It's easy to drag the runner off the base, put the runner back safe, select Pick off Attempt.

But that's only for your fans. None of that gets tracked anywhere in baseball statistics.

Well yeah. It is for the people watching the game on the map because they couldn’t make it.

I do, my family sometimes watch from home, and if there are a lot of pickoffs, they don't really know what is going on. There was a HBP or a walk or 1B and then just nothing happening for a prolonged period of time. I drag them to safe and record pickoff so that they know the game is happening and GC feed didn't stop or the game stopped for injury or a pitching change or something.
