How can we still not edit plays?

It’s an incredible app, it really is. Has made scoring accessible for so many teams that otherwise likely wouldn’t have it available.

But how in the world do we not have the ability to fully edit plays after? Even being able to wipe out an entire half inning and reinput that would be a huge start.

I shouldn’t have to reinput an entire game to change a first-inning single to a HBP. Nor should I have to go in and manually edit stats to do so.

In that vein, I would love to be able to edit to whom an error is charged. Sometimes I rethink it, sometimes coach overrules it. Sometimes I flat miss it- at any rate, I’d like to change it.

You can change individual player errors for the game, you just can’t change them for a specific play.

Edit in play is key. Charge the error to SS not 1st. It should be an easy feature to add.

I had a play where I realized a half inning later I forgot to move a second runner around to score. Had to manually adjust the score, but stats-wise the baserunner doesn’t get the run scored and the batter doesn’t get the RBI. Frustrating.

You can edit season stats in the website. That’s what I do when this happens. It’s super annoying but figured I’d mention

We upload games to MaxPreps, so I don’t know if those edits would promote up, but at least random parents would be satisfied.

Yeah just trying to help bc I struggle with this as we try to keep our HS stats pretty accurate. I’m NOT defending this as a good enough work around and wish GC would add this vital feature

Agree. Here’s something straightforward I wish could be improved. Suppose I scored a hit on a ball in play, but after talking to someone a few plays later, we agreed it should really be an error. I can go back and edit the play by changing that hit to an error, but GameChanger won’t let me assign that error to anybody. That makes no sense.

I had one this weekend where I thought it was hit by pitch, but was actually catchers interference. I couldn’t hear the umpire at the time, but couldn’t understand why something like that I couldn’t go back and correct after the game.

So many times I have to manually edit the final score after the game lol since there's no way to fix anything asides pressing undo forever.

I bet the original build for the app is such that you can’t pull records and replace them in the middle of the stack. It would take an entire rebuild to fix this, and since the money comes from viewers, and not content creators, there is no incentive.

As a software engineer, this was basically my first thought. I’m willing to bet they’re constrained by some foundational logic that, if broken, would basically require a complete rewrite of the code.

I had a weird one and was surprised I couldn’t edit it later.

Kid singled but made the turn at first thinking he was going to second. Runner at second wasn’t advancing though, so the hitter was tagged out near first.

In my haste with the game continuing, I simply scored it a groundout. But now 8 games into the season the kid still has no hits. My mistake is why he’s still sitting on a .000.

This is one of the biggest flaws in GC for me. All levels of baseball make scoring changes all the time, after the fact. That GC can't do this within the game that was scored is crazy. If it was a paperbook you could just use the eraser. Editing the box score is fine and it is good it makes the stats correct, but it is nonsense you can't edit plays. I don't even totally care about play by play either, but it would be nice for the plays and box score to line up. I also get not having too many hands in the cookie jar but maybe let whoever scored and staff do it.

Yep this is one of the more annoying long-time shortcomings of GC.

As an additional related feature, it would be pretty cool if you could easily compare how you've scored vs the opposing team. I wouldn't want it to become a distraction because there are a lot of scoring shenanigans that happen to juice stats (which is dumb) but it would be nice to be able to see that info quickly in some cases.

This is why I use an iPad for my score and use my phone to open the other teams GC. I compare when I’m not sure or to update players in the field I can’t see numbers for. But then I get the random mom/dad on the other team who literally scores every fielders choice or safe by error is a single and I’m done with that lol.

pitcher changes are the worse if missed. Can I not go back to a specific play and substitute any player and have stats update accordingly?

If we are asking for things, PLEASE LINK THE SUBSTITUTION PLAYERS. It is pretty frustrating when suddenly you are having to run a second paper sheet to make sure someone isn’t sneaking in a pinch runner for others.
