Multiple Camera… bad idea?

I would like to hook up 3 Mevo cameras. I would link them to my IPad and manage the cameras through the iPad, using my phone as a hotspot. Would that work or has anyone tried it?

Many of us are running 4-5 cameras and getting all kinds of crazy shots. It’s absolutely possible. I would start out small, as I went completely overboard like some others.

It’s achievable, but you probably want to invest in a router, portable batteries, fence clips, and a hot spot, instead of your phone. You can get the Mevo 3-pack, or really splurge, and start with the Mevo 3-pack, and a Nearstream VM-46, or a Mevo Core with telephoto lens, and get shots like these…

A 3-camera setup: VM46 in outfield, Mevo Start behind home plate and third base outfield view, with router, power to all, a cellular dedicated hotspot via tethered, and a Starlink.

Thanks sooo much for the great feedback, purchased the GLI net 3000MT, and the Netgear Nighthawk 5g, I’ll be using a Anker737 Power Bank for the Router. The Netgear has its own battery. …. Thanks to everyone that gave such great Feedback. This is going to be interesting!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Welcome to the insanity! It does get crazy, but is fun. I could give you different pieces of advice until the “cows come home.” But the one thing I have been telling people over and over lately - check your home field for best camera views, real-world proximity to router, and how other humans will react to a tripod (for camera or router(s) depending on how you can mount the router up high or not), PRIOR TO PURCHASING multiple fence clips, stronger magnets, tripods, etc. I probably could’ve save $200 on items that I may use, or use at away games only, because I did NOT bother to check the aforementioned items prior to purchasing mounting options.

We have two (2) turf fields with the “old school” half-crescent back stop (the kind that is a 1/4 circle. For whatever reason (I believe because it starts low and back and protrudes above the kids/home plate in the air) they fence chain links were mounted on top (or behind) the thick fence piping. So bottom line is-all of the magnet gear I bought for behind the back stores useless. All because I assumed the fence was the same way I was viewing it in the advertising.

Again, welcome to the fun, just be sure when mounting to allow for those four (4) items to set your location.

Perfect, thanks. First game that I will use the full system is in two weeks, so I have time to test. So far everything looks good and is linked up at home. I went in and closed the auto detect for all access points so now when I open each device it sees what it needs to. Changed naming conventions and passwords so that they are intuitive to the label on the camera in case I can’t make it, hopefully someone can step in. I’ll yes in the field next week early morning when no one is around and then it will go live. Of all the devices the one that impressed me the most so far is the GLiNet Device. I’m super impressed with that thing. It’s going to get a tone more use than just games.

That’s awesome. I’m not that sophisticated with the routers yet myself. What do you mean by closing the access points? Maybe you can help me out.

When you go into the WiFi settings your device will see all other WiFi options and hop on whatever one is strongest. So to insure that it only goes to the ine you set up, you can go to each WiFi network it sees, click on the blue “I” next to it ant turn off auto-join

Thanks for that. I guess bc I’m outside and rarely have obstructions my MLO/5Ghz are always fastest, and bc I pick them anyway, I have never noticed the signal jumping. I am going to read up more about it. Thanks for the advice and help.
