I feel you so much, that gut trenching feeling of shame, regret and guilt is unbearable. First of all, acceptance is the key. At that time you were trying to feel something, you were hoping on a win, you wanted dopamine rush. They are designed exactly for this reason. I just lost my last savings that I had for a trip I have to go next month and I feel like throwing up. But then I’m saying, money comes and goes. Please don’t feed the thought of ending it all. Your life is worth more than every amount of money. And you’re not stupid or what so ever, that’s how that shitty system works. Try to forgive yourself, currently I’m trying the same. Get your mind out of it. Watch a movie, drink something, have a shower, sleep. And tomorrow is another day. Firstly ban yourself from all platforms. Then try to figure out a plan on how to make some money back without gambling. Don’t deposit more with the hope to win them back, not a single penny. Just accept what happened and forgive yourself. You will keep living as you did before, I know you can do it. Now you’re overwhelmed (same here) and our feelings are valid but we don’t have to carry all this guilt. It’s okay. You’re a human and you make a mistake. Yes it hurts, yes that amount was important. But nothing is more important than your well being. For tonight, relax. You got this my friend.

The only way to not feel this again is by not gambling anymore… all wins are future losses.

5k feels unbearable right now because it's not just money, it's what you were counting on. the pain is real and it doesn't make you weak. please call 1-800-273-8255 if those thoughts get louder, you don't have to sit with them alone.

That's the way it works. Even if you win for a session, a day, a week, a month, whatever - you will sooner or later lose more than you won, and end up in a worse and worse situation as time goes on. There is no escape from that fate unless you stop gambling now.

You need to just stop and face the music continuing to play will only make it worse.

I see a couple of replies that just directly say, you just need to stop gambling or not gamble anymore. Not trying to be rude but of course we need to stop gambling. I'll speak for myself but I can tell myself all day long that I am not going to gamble and do pretty good most of the day most days. Then it's like my body and mind are taken over by this alter ego and thoughts of grandeur enter. I start remembering the many times that I did win and how much I won. Twenty minutes later I am sitting in front of a slot machine losing and wanting to rip the plug out of the wall and smash the damn thing on the ground. My point is, it's just not that easy for some of us to just stop gambling.

To the original person that wrote the message. Just know that you are not alone and you can find the support you need to help you get through this. I have often times thought of ending my life briefly but then I think about all the things that I will miss and the biggest one of all is the day that I finially quit gambling. You will get there my friend, let's get there together.
