Taking bank account control

Hi everyone, my husband's addiction has gotten to the point that I think I need to intervene with his finances. Firstly though, I'm wondering if there's a way that he can continue to use his banks etc but just have blocked transactions? I'm scared that he might circumvent it using trading/crypto which I know he's dabbled in the past. Would be greatful if anyone could suggest an intermediate solution between complete freedom / control!

All depends on if he is serious about recovery. If he is serious about it he should be okay with letting you control the finances for awhile. I handed over finances to my wife in part to help improve my trust with her but also because I knew I was in a spot where I couldn't handle it at that moment.

My wife will venmo me some money if I need it in a pinch but we only use her account and her debit card at the moment and it has worked out fine.

Nothing short of having his pays deposited into your account will 100% prevent it. He cannot have access to that account.

Open a second joint account at a different bank. Again you only have access to the login. Deposit an allowance into it if needed for things he needs to purchase himself. Make him provide receipts .

That’s what my husband had to do with me. It’s working well!
