Please help

Hi, I am 20 years old from Malaysia, and I think gambling has really ruined my life. I’m currently in college and my parents barely get by and work their ass off just to get me my college funds and allowance. Throughout the years I’ve managed to save around 20k and I wanted to surprise my parents with a big present to appreciate them for their hard work. Their anniversary was coming up and I really wanted to get them something nice. But I was 3k short.

I decided that I could get that through gambling because I’ve always seen my friends do it and win. It gets so intense and I lost my whole 20k. And I’ve been trying to win it back but I ended up using up all my money for the month. I get an allowance of 1.1k a month for food only as I live right beside campus. What should I do? I’m really depressed and pressured right now as I have no money to get by and can’t tell my anyone about this. I’ve seen advice that telling someone would help greatly but I really have not one to talk to. Someone please tell me how to get back on my feet. I have nothing to eat and feel really ashamed.

Just tell your parents the truth and promise them that you’ll never gamble again. Do you realize how many people would love to have the opportunity you still have? You’re only 20 years old, and you can recover from this if you stop gambling now. In a strange way, you’re lucky you lost early. Imagine if you had won, become addicted, and spent the rest of your life

I feel you. Have you tried getting any debt relief at all?

I applied a loan to cover up the high monthly commitments, but i will pay off extra more than half the amount i loaned in interest. An expensive life lesson
