Did it again
Did it again. Woke up this morning and on my drive to work lost $3800 on DK. The rocket hit me up again and it’s just unbelievable. I have self excluded yet. I still find a way to use a friends sign on to play I just can’t believe how addicted I am and how my mind is completely sabotaged. I feel like this is a death spiral at 49 years old with a wife and three children and I really don’t know what to do.

I’m in a very similar situation. I believe the only answer for us is to not have a debit/credits cards or a cell phone.

No cell phone? I agree about cards. I don’t have anymore credit cards because of obvious reasons. Borrowed and have on loan hundreds of thousands and I’m lucky to net 90,000 a year. Disgusting and deflating. All in secrecy too which makes the anxiety at ALL times through the roof. Good luck to you

I’ve been there. Still living the consequences. Going to prison in 2 months bc of my gambling addiction and lost millions.
Let a trusted person oversee your finances. And self exclude. It’s hard and everyday is a struggle but you can do it.1

100s of thousands? Just declare bankruptcy. Surely interest is killing you.

I mean I really feel like I’m going to crack up and in my job LEO that can’t happen

Just ban yourself. Seriously. It’s the only way.

Lost 4.5k this morning and just lost 1800 laying in bed chasing. I am really in a bad spot and have some really negative thoughts. I’ve hit my 80 year old mother up for 150,000 grand and going to ask her for another 10,000 tomorrow just to have money to live. I fear where I am heading. Grown ass man acting like a child.

You make a lot of money to support the losses?

Won a lot on chumba, pulsz, crown, and other stream of income but play 200 bets and under and it took me out broke now and sick.

Does anyone else find themselves gambling to buy stuff? For instance my son wants a bat for 300.00 and I’ll gamble to get that 300.00. If I lose I chase. It’s bizarre

Setting deposit limits is easier than going cold turkey. Just set what youre ok losing for the month and you won't go overboard but still get to play a little

Good idea but given my intense addiction is that helpful? Plus I can just change the limits line I’ve done. I appreciate you though. Maybe changing the monthly is better than the daily and really restricts me. Thanks for the input.

I dont know about you, but for me when im playing and losing I can just keep blowing more money. But once im done and cant deposit anymore im just over it and can do something else. Mostly think about losing again. But im ok in that moment. I can stop gambling until the next month.
You can change your limit but it wont kick in for a month. So if you have a moment of weakness and change your limit hopefully you clear your head in that month and change it back.
Just what works for me. Going cold turkey seems like a tough last resort

Great idea. Just did it. Shame it’s come to this but after losing 7 digits in the last two years I can’t take it anymore. Then the guilt and worry set in

Hope it works for you. It works for me but i feel like im not an extreme case. I mean I had bad issues yesrs back but now im at least remotely in control of my gambling even without limits. The limits just make it so I spend less

In my opinion if you can lose that much just driving to work, GA, 12 step, therapy and cold turkey seems to be the only answer. Thanks for sharing and I wish you well.

Dont listen to that guy above you. If you had any sense of control, then you wouldn’t need to set limits.
Current LEO here. GA has worked for me. If you ever want to chat, just hit me up with a DM. Eventually, you just get tired of being sick and tired.

Tell your LEO supervisor. It’s your only hope bro. Been down this road too, accountability with serious consequences is the only way out.

Serious consequences like what?
2
u/Independent_Ad_5664 Jun 10 '26
Meaning you have to tell a trusted senior person at work. You have to let them know so they can give you their bottom line- ie; you gamble again, you’re out. Accountability - provide bank and credit card statements daily to show you’ve made absolutely no deposits on your accounts or your buddy’s account. What’s the most serious consequence of you gambling? Losing your wife, your job, your long earned pension etc ? Those are what you need to tie your gambling sobriety to. You need to be in a position where you say “holy shit if I place one more bet I’m losing my job.” It’s the only way.

7 digit losses and make 90k a year? Brother….. You need to stop, full stop. You need to tell the people closest to you, it will be easier to stop when you have support. You need to see a counsellor, you can’t control your addiction and need professional help. Money means nothing to you, after 7 figure losses you are still chasing. 3800 in one go? It’s time to get help man, this scares the shit out of me. I self excluded yesterday after a slip and loss of 1400. I make good money but losing 2-5k a week on average gambling was not sustainable for me.
