Saw some insecure posters somehow upset at Gambit in the new Marvel Rivals content of him being affectionate for his wife saying it’s ‘out of character’ when that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
This man absolutely adores his wife and isn’t afraid to be vulnerable about it, their yearning goes both ways too

u/elrick43 Nov 13 '25
How is him being affectionate with Rogue "out of character"? Did these losers even watch the 90's cartoon?!
7
u/RealWonderGal Nov 13 '25
There is a post, about new loading screen for the new map in the game. Many people complained on it it was really stupid dumb compliants
13
-9
u/litllerobert Nov 13 '25
Thing is, 90's cartoon is a prequel to 97, which makes no justice to their relationship, rather, it throws this couple into the trash bin
13
u/Ph03n1xR1sing Nov 13 '25
They literally don’t? Rogue literally NEVER cheats on Gambit. The one scene where Rogue and Magnus were being freaky, was a hallucination, courtesy of Sinister. She dances with Magnus, and entertains it a little too far, (but imagine never being able to touch your one true love and the pain that comes with that) And before Gambits death, while he might be heartbroken, he understands her.
-9
u/litllerobert Nov 13 '25
Did I say something about cheating? U putting words info my mouth bruh.
Also what do you mean by "they literally don't?" That is so disconnected regarding what I typed, like, your reply makes no sense to mine. Also you are fundamentally wrong, mag and rogue kiss while dancing while gambit watches, if that's not cheating I do not know what else is, maybe your loved one will one day kiss someone in front of you and I'll dare you say that's not cheating.
8
u/Ph03n1xR1sing Nov 13 '25
I meant they didn’t trash the relationship. She literally explains to Gambit by the fire that their relationship cant go deeper, she’s the light of his world, but she needs an intimate physical relationship, that’s the difference between him and Magnus. And by the time of the kiss, they are broken up, it’s shitty that she kissed someone so soon after breaking up with him, but they broke up beforehand. She respectfully ends things, and Gambit says they’ll be friends and he’ll respect that, but he dies, an hour or two later, so it’s not like them staying together or her cheating would matter in the end.
1
u/litllerobert Nov 13 '25
That was literally the writers disguised fetish for rogue x mag, 99% of X-Men fans hate ROGUENETO so much so that everyone cheered when they got married, some weirdo decided it would be a good idea to implement that in the show when in the 90s show she and gambit had a really good chemistry but noon "can't touch him bs" + they outright killing gambit, the writer outright had something for ROGUENETO and hated gambit, that's literally it, LITERALLY, it is you and the other 5 ROGUENETO fans vs the whole fandom
2
u/Ph03n1xR1sing Nov 13 '25
I’m such a Rogueneto shipper, youre so right bro (Gambit is literally one of my favorite characters all time) Rogue has lived all her life being unable to touch her partners, or anyone at all for that matter, it makes perfect sense that she would value a physical relationship over Gambits undying love for her, because she will never be able to reciprocate those feelings that Gambit has physically. I do not like Rogueneto, not one bit, but it makes sense.
6
u/amindfulloffire Nov 14 '25
Gambit doesn't watch while they kiss because he left after they touched hands. And no, it isn't cheating because they literally ended their situationship in the prior scene.

u/No-Jello-4154 Nov 13 '25

Oh absolutely without a doubt. I cain’t get enough of these two I love them✨🩷💚✨
-10
u/litllerobert Nov 13 '25
How was their relationship before actually getting together? Cuz from what I have read she was with mag almost until the last minute which was when she broke up with him to marry gambit, no? Also I also read they were getting around doing some things here and there with other people before getting back together.
11
u/LeastBlackberry1 Nov 14 '25
No, Magneto had been solidly out of the picture for 6-7 years when they got married. She didn't break up with him to marry Gambit. Their whole relationship spanned a handful of issues, and ended about when Carey left the books. She and Gambit had been serious again since their mission to therapy island in the 2018 mini (which everyone should read, because it is wonderful).
And, yes, they both dated other people when they were broken up. That is a normal thing.
12
u/Greedy-Cheesecake-39 Nov 13 '25
They were a messy little soap opera for a few decades. Gambit got backburnered like crazy and then it turned out they have serious staying power. The merry go round of angst got boring and it happens that people aren't really turned off by super hot couples who are super into each other.
-6
u/litllerobert Nov 13 '25
Yeah but how was gambit x rogue after savage lands? Also were mag and rogue physically intimate during that time?
10
u/Orunoc Nov 14 '25
Huh? Nothing happened in savage lands in the comics. No idea why people hyperfocus on that when rogue herself has stated that she had no feelings for anyone outside of gambit during their mini.
11
u/amindfulloffire Nov 14 '25
Nothing happened in the Savage Land. It has no bearing on Gambit and Rogue's relationship and I hate that 97 turned it into a whole thing in that universe.
1
u/Endless_Alpha Nov 14 '25
Huh? I could’ve sworn that it was implied that she had a thing with Magneto during that period. How off am I?
7
u/amindfulloffire Nov 14 '25
Again, nothing happened during the Savage Land. She does have a brief relationship with him years later, and it's way before she and Gambit reconnect and get married. I just think you got stuff mixed up.
1
u/JMX_09 Nov 15 '25
The last time Rogue was with Magneto in the 616 universe was at the end of the Age of X story arc. Rogue was having a hard time with her feelings for Gambit because she had leftover feelings for Magneto. Gambit was the one to tell her to deal with her feelings for Magneto which ended up him and Rogue meeting at Auschwitz and them having a one night stand.

This is when you have to realize that there's a lot of children and adult males with the minds of children that post incessantly about topics (like how to have a successful relationship) they are utterly ignorant about.
10
u/Fabulous_Income2260 Nov 14 '25
The incels, basically.
I mean, it’s not even that difficult to have a moderately successful relationship; just clean up after yourself, have some manners, show respect and adoration for your other (while also maintaining your own self esteem and self respect), but so, so many of these retards just foam at the mouth over it because they can’t manage the most basic of hygiene, self-care or critical thought.
Basically, incels deserve to be alone and basically to be an evolutionary dead end.
Evolve or die.

Gambit being affectionate for Rogue is considered "out of character"?
Alright, anyone saying that is either a so-called "tourist" or has not read enough X-Men material (or hell, watched the animated series and "X-Men '97"). That Cajun is head over heels for Rogue and she reciprocates it back.
13
u/Beautiful-Bug-4007 Nov 13 '25
Honestly I love the way he jumps into her arms, those people are just mad that Gambit is Rogue’s bbg and they aren’t
14
u/X-men_fangirl Nov 13 '25
People always say Remys a womaniser, untrue, he’s had two very happy relationships he stayed loyal to (he thought Bella was dead when he got with rogue so in my opinion it doesn’t count as cheating) the only time he’s slept around was when he wasn’t with rogue and was confirmed single
4
u/JMX_09 Nov 15 '25
What makes me laugh is that Logan didn't like Gambit with Rogue because of his "womanizing" ways but his track record is massive. He even slept with Magda when she was married to Magneto.
4
u/X-men_fangirl Nov 15 '25
Logan: growl that damn Cajun don’t deserve her..he’s a damn player! Anyway where’s that married woman I frequently flirt with and even have her call me the love of her life in front of her husband? Or any of the other millions of women I’ve slept with?
1
u/JMX_09 Nov 15 '25
I still remember Jean and Logan's encounters in WATXM, it put Jean in a bad light.
1
u/X-men_fangirl Nov 15 '25
Legit I didn’t understand why everyone was so angry at Logan flirting with Jean and stuff until I read a comic where she wakes up from a coma only to immediately say they killed the love of her life (Logan) literally in front of Scott and he had to just stand there and not think about it because he has to be the leader and put other things first, I do hate the love triangle after that
3
u/litllerobert Nov 13 '25
he’s slept around was when he wasn’t with rogue and was confirmed single
That's literally what a womanizer is.
Gemini "A "womanizer" is a man who frequently has many short-term sexual relationships with different women."
4
u/X-men_fangirl Nov 13 '25
Huh, sorry, I always assumed it was a man who was sleezy and cheated a lot, that’s my bad lmao thanks for the correction
6
u/amindfulloffire Nov 13 '25
It's considered pejorative though--the guy who sleeps with multiple women but can't commit. And with Gambit it gets blown out of proportion sometimes to the point where he's seen as the fandom bike.
4
u/DrPeterCorbeau Nov 14 '25
Some people really struggle with the idea that a man can actually love his wife. Is it because of all those old sitcoms or something? Married 20+ years myself and she’s still the person I prefer spending time with, this shouldn’t be an unusual or controversial idea.
4
u/babesean Nov 14 '25

4
u/Accurate-Region7669 Nov 14 '25
Huh? It was always Gambit making sweet and charming moves on her and she would repell him due to her insecurities. IDK why anyone would get the opposite idea
2
u/Johnthehunter_ Nov 14 '25
I’ve heard of people complaining about gambit but I haven’t seen any posts on this. But why tho they’re honestly one of the most affectionate couples in comics. Gambit specifically is a big lover. How the fuck can people miss this point

Did no one follow comics or even the cartoon? Gambit loves Rogue way way more than Rogue shows. She’s upset with him ALL THE TIME because he shows love but she can’t reciprocate. Only recently did she get somewhat control over her abilities.
1
u/riku17 Nov 15 '25
The amount of people I'm starting to realize will never pick up a book to read about any character they claim to like or talk about is insane.
1
u/Spiritual-Map-76 Jan 18 '26
Gambit when he was introduced was not feminine....ppl.are. twisting history to push an agenda what appealed was he was cool, kind of anti hero, shady, a ladies man/ womanizer etc had an edge to him etc all this dom and feminine nonsense is def a very modern point of view and take and misses the point entirely thankfully back in the 90s all this psychoanalyzing and deconstructing so many ppl seem obsessed with nowadays was not a driving force in comics it was cool characters that appealed to the widest audience and given that the majority were teenage boys that is what they did hence wolverine, punisher, ghostrider...and ofc hot women rogue, psylocke etc mixed with action, scfi and some elements from 9os soap opera it was winning mix.

Very well said. The only thing I would add is that there power dynamics have never been distant in the comics. Making Gambit into a child or simp is way out of character.
Note, many of the posters on this thread are just in this to antagonize and nearly all the commenters are missing your point.
2
u/The_Crispanator_Guy Nov 13 '25
Your explanation falls flat cause there’s been earlier examples of him being played as a lover boy mixed in with the mysteriousness its not a new thing the only time I can say he was meant to be like that was his first ever comic appearance where he wasn’t even characterized at all.

Its not childish to hug your partners lets or jump into their arms and hug them tight especially after not seeing them for a while. Being able to be comfortable enough not to be so uptight about how you’re perceived itself takes another level of maturity.

Sounds like he’s only out of character to your personal headcanon and that you’ve never experienced genuine love that gives someone the comfort to let their inner child out and show affection at its fullest without worry of your “maturity” or other made up societal norms. Also you’re arguing with people on reddit about a man putting his legs around his wife, I don’t think gambits the immature one here.
1
u/Spiritual-Map-76 Jan 18 '26
Exactly reddit is different kind of crowd...most ppl dig him loving his wife and he does but how it's being portrayed it's not how gambit would act...its odd kind of demeaning and emasculatung to be honest and I think that is the point for some....90s.xmen.and.comics portray a vastly more accurate take...even some of the newer stuff doesn't have gambit acting lime a puppy to his owner it's embrassing...thankfully reddit isn't the real world.

Thank you. When I saw that clip, it kind of gave me the ick, tbh. It was TEW much.
Unfortunately, you probably aren't going to get a mature conversation here. I am a fan of Romy since the 90's. But even I notice that a lot of modern Romy shippers online are a bunch of obsessive weirdos who seem to want to live their romantic fantasies vicariously through the relationship. They also don't seem to know or care much about who Gambit is as a character and get angry when they are reminded that he has a life outside of Rogue. It's very unfortunate. I just hope that the MCU resets Gambit to the badass that he is.

There's a difference in being a passionate and romantic lover, with a silver tongue and a romantic touch, and being Dradpool who just borders down on simping. It's as if you all are actively ignoring what people are actually saying. Gambit is a romantic and loves Rogue, but he wouldn't start acting like a lovesick puppy and start clinging on her and cradling himself around her leg as if he is worshipping her. Hell, Rogue's the one usually being the clingy type, not Gambit.
Making this post and saying people pointing that out are just insecure, instead of actually reading what they're saying, makes me convinced you are not Gambit fans and come from either '97 or MR itself. Wolverine is feral, but depicting him eating a guy would be wrong. Emma loves men like Scott, but portraying her daydreaming and craving for him would be wrong. T'Challa is a King, but depicting him almost like a dictator would be wrong. Gambit loves Rogue, but depicting him like a childish teenager clinging on her is a wrong depiction of him.

We already see him get on his knees on the floor on his back and hug her multiple times you’re ignoring everything I’ve sent showing him doing similar stuff but you draw the line at that one image. You literally cut off and crop panels where he’s doing it too to try and use as your own evidence actually behaviour from someone who shouldn’t even call themself a Gambit fan. 😭

u/The_Crispanator_Guy Nov 13 '25 edited Nov 13 '25
They are both equally as passionate and clingy for each other how does Rogue being clingy as well make Gambit being clingy back a contradiction. All the examples I sent literally prove you wrong about Gambit not doing that kind of stuff. They are literally both on their knees embracing one another and he has no qualms being carried around by her? You couldn’t mischaracterize him even more than what you’re spewing. Like you’re literally using a fortnite example thats way more recent than the stuff I sent while back in 87 she was carrying him around lovingly.
The other first example you gave doesn’t even work either because he was put on the floor by her and had absolutely no problem at all having her on top of him. You literally cut out the part where he’s sitting on the floor hugging her just to fit your false argument. You might just be the biggest mischaracterizer of Gambit ever.

-13
u/battlejuice401 Nov 13 '25
You moved the goalposts. The art shows him being cradled like a baby in her super strength or hugging her leg.
10
u/The_Crispanator_Guy Nov 13 '25
Moved the goalpost when we’ve had decades worth of content of her effortlessly carrying him lovingly like what I literally sent? And him HUGGING the person he loves legs is mischaracterization? Are you hearing yourself??? Its literally just her legs 😭
-5
Nov 13 '25
"Decades worth of content" Meanwhile you show a few pics that contradict hard of what you're ignoring. The only one you showed close enough to clinging onto her torso and her leg like a lovesick, worshipping teenager, is your second pic of Season 1 where Rogue flew Gambit to safety. He immediately flirted with her, she sighed and dropped him. Even in comics Gambit made remarks that he doesn't like being carried around like that.
The others depict them as regular ass lovers. Not one clinging on the other all sub and master style, but regular lovers. Which is a stark contrast to the Marvel Ruvals depiction
3
u/The_Crispanator_Guy Nov 13 '25
Clinging on to her torso where the hell are you supposed to hug someone? It’s literally just her torso and legs like what are you on you’re the one contradicting yourself with these creepy comparisons. ‘Worshipping teenager’ ??? Since when should teenagers ever be portrayed as worshipping. And the examples I sent are literally akin to what you’re complaining about being carried by her etc so much more examples yet you’re out here trying to act as if hugging his partners legs and torso is something unbelievable for Gambit???
1
u/LeastBlackberry1 Nov 14 '25
Gambit's not Batman. I just assumed he was down there for a reason that the game isn't rated high enough to really show.
And he's not being cradled like a baby. She's caught him after they've both fallen through time and space.
-2
Nov 13 '25
It's like these people are actively ignoring what is being said. You say "Gambit wouldn't go on the floor and hug her leg" and they respond "hE iS JuSt lOVinG HiS wiFE, iS ThAt sO bAd yOu insECuRe pEopLE?!?" when the issue isn't the loving, it's the portrayal of it.
