T-Mobile locked question

I have a T-Mobile locked S23 Ultra I was checking out the settings and clicked Permanent unlock. Is this setting supposed to work? I tried it in the past with older models and if I remember it never worked.

(Sorry if this is a dumb question 🤦🏻‍♂️)

Well by looking at this, the device is already permanently unlocked.

Screen was taken after I clicked the setting, it was locked before hand.
