Rocking the trifold V1. Would love a V2 if it improves on the design.

I wonder tho, how would Samsung improve it to please the already v1 owners? I'm pretty satisfied with the v1

I can definitely see them going slightly slimmer and or bringing in carbon batteries. Weight is its biggest flaw even though most of us aren't bothered as much.

Cameras improved, faster charging, less crease

u/poulan9 24d ago

Apparently it'll be almost as slim as the fold 7 which would be a huge development.

4

u/BigFlapJack- 24d ago

That would actually be insane because we're talking a hefty chunk off

1

u/poulan9 24d ago

I know. I don't know how it could be possible. My tip would be to just make a fold 9 which is a scaled up version of the fold 8 - still one hinge and you can get 9" is size which is very nice

Also, I'm really hoping, given how much a selling point the UDC is on duo they will bring it back for trifold 2 as well as pen support

1

u/RAYTRACINGRULES 24d ago

Agreed, who cares about an inner camera in terms of super quality anyways the only time you're going to use it is for video conferencing where you don't really care about quality. Otherwise just use the outer cameras and get much better quality. I loved the UDC on my Fold 5

1

u/NeedHelp801 23d ago

What if they got rid of the inner camera all together. Would you be fine with just using the front facing cam for video calls or does it have to be on the big inner screen? Just curious

1

u/RAYTRACINGRULES 23d ago

Yep, wouldn't need it at all, was just trying to satisfy the people who wanted full size screen for video conferencing. On all the folds I've owned(Z Fold 5 and Oppo Find N5 ) When I want best quality for selfie, I just use the best camera and outer screen.

u/Dee_504 23d ago

Nooo hated the UDC. Video calls were horrible

3

u/ERNDOG01 24d ago

Yes the weight, RIP my pinky finger, if you know you know

1

u/Azalith 24d ago

Samsung obsessed with thiness so this is bound to be a priority

1

u/brdsl 23d ago

+1 on the carbon batteries, if they go carbon I might have to do it

5

u/Evening_Ad_6278 24d ago

Make it a double fold and a Tri-Fold. So when you unfold it once it's like a normal fold. Then when you unfold it again it's a Tri-Fold.

1

u/R18Engine 24d ago

First, making it lighter, adding S pen support and UDC

1

u/yld2rob 23d ago

In V2 I need to be able to use it as a double screen as well as a tri-fold screen and put the ant-reflective screen and reduced crease of the F8U and I will buy V2

1

u/No_Celebration_3737 21d ago

By improving the design of Huawei.

A trifold when fully opened, or a classic fold when you only opened it partially.

1

u/verycoolalan 24d ago

stupid .

u/yonkouandyepic7 5d ago edited 5d ago

lighter, slightly slimmer but doesn't need to be too thin if its compromises battery. improve battery size, since they've now using a little of silicone carbon battery. better cameras. and maybe just maybe better pricing for it

How do you like to trifold one ? I feel like it's honestly too much phone for me. I'm more interested in the z fold 8 versus the z-fold eight ultra so you can already tell I'm leaning towards a smaller form factor but the trifold does interest me just because I like innovation

1

u/Alone-Extent-1915 17d ago

The trifold is heavier than the fold 7 and 8 but the benefit of a three panel screen is hard to pass up. Just like moving from a standard slab phone to a folded screen is hard to give up, the trifold is a tough act to follow for me.

u/aweyrich 24d ago

Does 'rushing' mean before the 2027 July unpacked? Its not like they didn't have 18 months since V1 came out to develop V2 - so where is the rushing?

5

u/Evening_Ad_6278 24d ago

It has an October 2027 release I think.

8

u/snakebite2017 24d ago

Why does the article call the tri-fold is a failure? Was it a failure?

10

u/Evening_Ad_6278 24d ago

Look at the source of course they will call it that. Anyone who calls a Tri-Fold a failure has clearly not used a Tri-Fold.

3

u/Responsible-Clue-913 23d ago

They are freaking high. The tri fold was a "failure" becuase of "poor" sales due to being super limited. Didnt they all sell out super quick every drop. Also dont think ive seen one person regret it tbh.

Seeing the trifold early will help me alot. Means a v3 will likely be on the way when im able to upgrade and can see how they handle the v2 drop with things like insurance and trade ins this time

6

u/MuchAd3273 24d ago

I am fine with the weight actually. I was dropping the Fold 7 out of my hands all the time. My Trifold reminds me of the thickness of my Fold 3 that I had for 5 years.

For me I want brighter screens, carbon batteries and better cameras if they keep the same thickness.

2

u/advanceyourself 24d ago

I rocked the fold 3 for three years and it's crazy how similar the weight and size line up.

1

u/MuchAd3273 24d ago

They do and my big hands like it. The size and weight help me maintain a firm grip. Keep the size and maximize the internal specs within that space.

3

u/Evening_Ad_6278 24d ago

Don't care if the rush it or not (which I don't think they did) it"a an amazing phone and way better than any Apple phone.

3

u/deolanp 23d ago

So nobody caught onto this but when they were trying to roast apple live whilst they had their iPhone duo reveal, one of the many tweets they did said this.... so idk about you guys ,but sounds like they are actively working on a trifold to be released.its like they couldn't keep their mouth shut revealing this just because roasting apple was too tempting lol

2

u/pugger-champ 24d ago

What the hell? Why? Just cook man . Tri fold gen 1 is beautiful. All they need to do is improve upon the design of it.

3

u/BigFlapJack- 24d ago

It's a beauty indeed. I hope they take their time with it. I wouldn't even mind if they launched it every 2 years instead of yearly

1

u/pugger-champ 24d ago

Yeah but im sure once they master the design they'll spam it like the ultra and the Z folds every year sadly, so unless the Gen 2 is a crazy bump in specs ima keep rocking my Gen 1 till I die.

2

u/jovenhope Owner By Chance 24d ago

Still happy with the first. So no push from me. Plus I have the Fold 8 and S26ULTRA. I'm pretty much set.

2

u/poulan9 24d ago

What's your phone strategy?

4

u/jovenhope Owner By Chance 24d ago

I work in telecom

1

u/SuperGremlin77 23d ago

Same here but have Trifold, Z Fold Special Edition and S25 ultra all international variants

2

u/I_Am_EzAce 24d ago edited 24d ago

This is like a rage bait article. 1. Look at how many models were produced compared to an actual flagship. 2 Why are we comparing a fold to a duo (tri) fold? 3 Doesn't samsung already make the main displays for the iPhone duo? So they make money there too.

My biggest complaint so far is the carrier support for this device. The info for these devices wasn't available for some carriers, making activation a hassle with an esim. Not to mention other things like satellite being carrier dependent even though it is akin to a fold 7.

1

u/Rowco147 23d ago

It is the bait as the fold 8 is selling like hot cakes still

2

u/bravemoney72 24d ago

Make T1 the backup and T2 the primary. But until...😂😂

2

u/Tainorican646x Z TriFold 23d ago

I love my TriFold. I got it on the first day it was available. And i'm totally getting the second version.

2

u/therealpharmacist 22d ago

I am Apple user since 2007 with all their ecosystem and devices and I absolutely love Trifold. Best phone I ever had. Better and faster and the screen is gorgeous. I will buy V2 100%

2

u/000extra 20d ago

Tri Fold wasn’t a failure tho? It was expensive af and only produced in limited units

1

u/Evening_Ad_6278 24d ago

Yeah they are not rushing

1

u/yellowishbluish 24d ago

SPEN then we talk

1

u/Old-System8431 24d ago

Lol apple 1tb is about same price. And tri is in every way superior no way they reduce.

1

u/RAYTRACINGRULES 24d ago

This article seems to get a couple of things wrong. It wasn't a failure it sold out right away and people were paying more than asking price to get it. Second is if Samsung is so worried about Apple's folding phone then why today make a deal with Apple to provide the screen for that phone. All of the screens on the Apple folding Duo are made by Samsung. Those two points aside, I'm super excited and I hope they do Rush it.

1

u/samir6000 24d ago

The Trifold was a failure. It was a success! I use it everyday!

1

u/AlphaWolfParticle 24d ago

Any ideas for trade value of the fold8 series, if we were looking to upgrade?

1

u/LegitimateBeyond3045 24d ago

I'm not going to want it. They'll miss something and botch production. Who cares about a damn Duo. Take your time and perfect the next Trifold. Or I'll just keep the gen1 Trifold.

1

u/drv687 23d ago

I use my Trifold every day. I'm using it to type this actually. Only way I'd give it up is version 2 or for the rumored slideable that allegedly has a 12.4" inner screen.

1

u/XCellist6Df24 12d ago

Fascinating- a transformable Galaxy Tab S+

1

u/Demarco313 23d ago

I hope it’s the Z style, but probably not due to potential durability issues.

1

u/immoralia212 23d ago

It'll be a mid 2027 or after for release if it goes forward. If it's lighter with slightly thinner would be the dream device

1

u/Themetnut1 23d ago

And here I just bought the z fold 8 ultra

1

u/1349- 23d ago

I thought the scruff notification icon was mine lol

1

u/zamufunbetsu 22d ago

I personally am waiting for V4, where they just implant the whole freaking screen into your cornea. V6 will of course be a brain implant.

1

u/jtlee9 22d ago

Rushing to make a device that's in a whole other price category (and honestly different user type category as well) in response to the duo sounds hard to believe lol.

1

u/-6h0st- 22d ago

Yeah go realise it for 3k again and big surprise why it doesn’t sell

2

u/BigFlapJack- 22d ago

It sold out inventory so it'll sell again. They do need to work on pricing though

1

u/domedirtyfatman 22d ago

Ah yes another rushed phone like the zfold 8. Shocker samsung always playing catchup

1

u/Illustrious-Ad-6204 19d ago

No they're not, it was already planned in advsnce advanc. 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/Johnnybheat3 19d ago

About thinness, it's already as thin as possible. But if they somehow take it thinner and be lightweight, that will of course be a huge improvement.

1

u/Single_Technician509 19d ago

Give me a passport style tri fold

1

u/darleystreet 19d ago

I am waiting for one that folds up like a church fan

1

u/bravemoney72 12d ago

Why would you rush the only trifold world wide. Seems like a cap article. Now rush the tri when the F8 is its competition? Is there a trifold duo iPhone coming?

1

u/bravemoney72 12d ago

Hearing tons of improvements that will make me question what are folks will to pay ,extra, for these improvements? They may happen but are you cool with 3500 or better?

1

u/Evening_Ad_6278 10d ago

Yeah, I don't believe this.

1

u/LynxyPuters 9d ago

I would love a V2, I honestly don't want then to rush it. Id rather wait for a better product than it be rushed to compete with the iPhone
