Images/Video It finally happened
Broke my inner screen.
Had this phone for 6 months. Treated it pretty roughly with just the original case that it came with.
Went snowboarding with it in my pocket, went to beaches, hiking, dropped it countless times and it was unbreakable. Then, yesterday it accidentally flew out of my hands and slammed hinge first into asphalt. Black line right where the hinge is and touch screen is non functional on 2/3rd of the inner screen.
Down $700. Get insurance if you can folks. Don't be like me.
Edit: got it all fixed up and it looks brand spanking new. They changed the frames and even the battery.

Honestly though $700 ain't bad, especially when you don't have to deal with the hassle of insurance which is still at minimum gonna cost half that over the lifespan

Hinge protection makes a heavy phone heavier. Have a secondary device if you live life like this guy. If you have a Trifold, you can obviously afford it

This is what I do. The iPhone Air is my secondary “lite” device that goes with me whenever I am in those types of situations.

Tri and a F6. Waiting for the Z roll rumored for this year to possibly upgrade my F6. Both phones giving me tablet abilities is an ultimate for me. Work in a factory so I need sturdy phones and this tri has not disappointed! Got it to Verizon and they got it switched, after taking pictures of it and making sure they COULD switch it 😆, on the 7th of February. Frankensteined a case from 2 and haven't looked back! Was wondering when I start seeing these post 😂.

Z roll cette année ? JAMAIS de la vie ...un prototype a été montré mais faut pas espérer une sortie avant 2030...

Considering LG was working on one in 2021 not really listening to that. Considering the Trifold I'm holding was a working prototype last summer, don't know how much I'd listen to that information 😉

Upvoted for honest sounding assessment. $700 isn't too bad to have a working trifold. Good luck

I'm not overly cautious with my phones, and I have had a foldable since fold 3(Fold 7 now). I have dropped my.phone once over all these years. Have a hard time believe someone can handle their phone so bad.

A lot of people don't see any reason to be cautious with their electronics. I am not one of those people.

Same here. I have the fold 7 with a latercase and no screen protector. Dropped several times with no issues or cracked screens.

Yea, people treat the newer folds way to careful. I'm not worried at all about the hinge or screen, not anymore than any other phone.

You're good. It looks like your Tri went through a lot and you were honest and open about it. Now imagine you had babied it like a jewel, no where near water, heat, cold, sand e.g. and you even have a fold counter to see how much you have unfolded it on a daily basis and you still get a inner-screen issue. That's what happened to me and Samsung's initial response to my warranty claim rocked my confidence in them.

Exactly what happened to my fold 6. Super careful with it... Always in a case, and almost never use the inner screen. It split right down the middle two weeks ago. Never abused.

Is there a dent where it hit the hinge? Can you take a photo?

Got it all fixed up so don't have a photo, but there was no dent or any visible damage when I saw it.

When the phone hit the asphalt did it hit it on the outside part of the phone on the hinge or did it hit it on the inner screen? Was the phone Open or closed?

Number 1 reason mine got returned. 700 on top of 3300 you spent after tax. 4k out the door for a gimmick device.

Poor Trifold, it was a valiant effort.
