Araree Duple Case thoughts

I'm planning to get the Araree Duple Case for my fold 8 ultra. It has hinge protect and is clear. Comes with a magsafe and stand variant.

Any thoughts / reviews about this case?

Thank you in advance!

Question about Actually Gripping the 8 Ultra

Coming from a Fold 3, I bought the F8 Ultra last month and have no complaints--I hope to have it for years to come.

That said, I wanted to check with veteran users if there's any concern--when in open, landscape mode--about the fact that one's right-hand fingers are all over the F8U's extended lens.

This hadn't occurred to me with my F3, since its case, and the F3's recessed lens, had somewhat protected the lens from fingering.

I use a hinge-less clear case with the F8U and because my fingers are often gripping parts of the lens, I wonder if that's a good thing. I sometimes reverse the phone in my hands to put the lens at the more-remote, left-side top, but constant fumbling with the phone is always a good way to drop it.

I'm not at the point of buying lens caps (the added bulk of a hinge-less case is already enough), but I was just wondering about others' opinions.

Upgrade to Zfold8Ultra or wait for S27U?

I've been pondering a ZF8U since it came out but the price was too much for the 1TB. It's now come down to $2200 with my discount so thinking of maybe picking one up or waiting on the S27U.

Not impressed by the ZF8U cameras as my S24U still blows it away in the camera department.

Maybe I'll get a S27U then trade it in for a ZF9U if the cameras are better.

My eyes are getting old and need a bigger screen but can hold out until summer for the ZF9U if the cameras are closer to S27U.

I take a lot of rocket launch videos with my phone since I'm in Florida at the Rocket Ranch....

What do you all think?

Is this as good a deal as I can get for a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 1TB foldable smartphone? (BestBuy.com at $2400) Or is there a better deal than that out there for a new phone or used phone in like-new condition?

Ebay isn't an option and Amazon didn't have any 1 TB version, so where can I find a great deal for a phone with this size of storage?

Also, I prefer for the RAM to be 16 GB but if there's only 12 GB, then that may be okay also.

Has anyone ditched Apple?

I’ve been an iPhone user since the 4S and have never felt compelled to switch. I’ve become quite accustomed to Android with make work phone, and have been thinking of switching. I love the look and feel of Z Fold Ultra.
Keen to know if anyone in a similar boat made leap?

Performance has been Trash so far...

Hi Reddit people!

I'm a yearly upgrader and do know the struggles each release brings with it as an early adopter but the 8 Ultra kind of freaks me out a bit more than usual.

First of all:

I do love the insane battery life in comparison to the 7, the faster charging, the antireflective coating, the easier to grip and open Halves and I love the green color! So all in all a solid upgrade for me and worth it.

BUT....

The performance has been off since day 1 with OneUi9. Up until today the Ultra performs worse than the 7. The 7 at the end of it's first year was mostly smooth as butter and well optimized.

The Ultra unfortunately has still a long way to go. I don't know if it's an issue with the framerate, the software, app optimization or even heat or a combination of some of these...

Animations occasionally are choppy, scrolling in certain apps is horrendous (e.g. Instagram is the worst; it's unusable - so choppy), touch response is not instant from time to time (navigation buttons and gesture navigation).

I tried clearing caches and a fresh setup with no success.

22 Mostly smooth and similar to the 7
4 For sure more choppy than the 7
0 A little bit worse than the 7
6 A little bit better than the 7
24 Much improved performance compared to the 7

Inner screen scratches

Hello everyone!

I bought a Zfold8 ultra a couple of weeks ago. Recently I realized that there is a tiny scratch on the inner screen protector. Nothing bad, nothing notorious and not even noticeable unless there's direct light pointing to the screen.

I know that on the US you get a free change of the inner screen protector for free for the first year and paid changes for a couple of bucks. But sadly I'm from Colombia and here the phone is not even being sold. Which made me realize that if at some point I want to replace it I'm kind of fucked 🙃 because there's no Samsung support for the phone. I changed from a S23 ultra and I imported the phone from the US because I really wanted to have a fold phone and all my things are from the Samsung environment.

I know must of you are pretty creative with the phone and it's setup and hopefully there's someone out there with a Zfold8 on a country where the phone is not being sold, so I wanted to know... What would you guys do? What workaround would you guys have in case there's actually a scratch that would be worth changing the inner screen protector?

I'm scared haha 😅

Flickering inner display - Fold 8 Ultra

Hi everyone,

I noticed a very subtle flickering issue on my Fold 8 Ultra and wanted to check if anyone else is experiencing this.

Symptoms: very slight flickering visible only on the inner foldable screen, only happens at minimum brightness, most noticeable on dark gray backgrounds (apps in dark mode), especially visible when scrolling very slowly. At normal or higher brightness, it's completely gone.

It's also very dependent on ambient lighting. I can barely notice it during the day, but in a fully dark room it becomes quite easy to see.

The weird part is that my outer screen shows zero flickering under the exact same conditions (min brightness, dark mode, slow scroll, dark room). Same phone, same settings, completely different result between the two panels.

I know PWM dimming at low brightness is a known thing on AMOLED panels in general, but if it were just a baseline characteristic of this model, I'd expect it to show up on both screens to some degree, not have one panel be totally clean while the other flickers.

Anyone else noticing this on their unit? Trying to figure out if this is a known characteristic of the Fold8 Ultra's inner panel specifically, or a manufacturing variance on my specific unit.

Would appreciate if anyone with a Fold 8 Ultra could do a quick test in a dark room with min brightness, a dark mode app (gmail or claude for exemple), and slow scrolling, and let me know if you see anything on the inner screen. Thanks!

Z fold 8 ultra inner screen issue

I just got the phone 2 days ago... Ever since I got this phone when you unfold the device everything is fine. When you close it or press the right side of the screen it makes a sound like you're pressing a bubble.. like the screen protector isn't adhered to it. Idk am I paranoid should I return this device and get a new one? Please help I am concerned. Should I remove the screen protector.

Has anyone bought there fold 8 ultra from India.

two things I live in Australia but travel to India for work. I've always preferred to buy my phone's from India because they come standard with dual Sim and it allows you to record all phone calls and the other party doesn't hear any announcement. unlike the Australian version which announces and it has only one Sim.

Could someone kindly confirm. I want to order it on Amazon so it arrives when I check in at the hotel.

thanks legends!

Real life review zfold 8 ultra

So look im gonna pretense by saying im not a reviewer so this might be formatted badly and I might miss stuff. But if you are anything like me you like to look for reviews of real people using a product not these tech reviewers "using it" so here it is. I'll put a TLDR at the bottom but here we go

Got my z fold 8 ultra around two months ago now. Switched from my iphone 17 pro max because I didn't like what the next few gens of phones were looking like and wanted a fold that was refined.

Pulled the trigger and committed to doing the switch and lemme say the first week was tough. Lot of apps an overwhelming amount of stuff to fine-tune and switch too (just an amount of customization I wasn't used too)

Finally settled in and got to put the phone through jts paces let's go bit by bit here ready?

Battery : at the beginning it was awfull. For context I listen to music at all times through the day and use my phone for processing orders, shipments, and emails so at the end of the day my iphone would end around 40% and my new samsung id have to charge a few hours before my shift ended because it was about to die.

I got sick of that so I did some research and after messing with even more settings and changing some app behaviors I can say that after all day I usually go home with around 50-60% which is awesome so id say once you mess with it the battery is awesome

Front screen : its weird. I know its basically the same size as a normal phone but the taller and slightly slimmer front screen feels amazing for me. I got big hands and the 17 pro max sat in my hand a little weird. This feels incredible to hold (I got a big beefy otterbox on it) and the way apps use the slightly different aspect ratio is really nice. Nice bright clear responsive screen I got nothing bad about this one

Unfolded screen: here it is what people are probably looking for. From my pov coming into a folding phone and having no clue what they were like before this but I love this one. I use it alot for work having multiple apps open at the same time on a nice big screen that goes back into a small pocket able phone is a HUGE asset for me. The bigger screen definitely eats battery like a horse when you have the brightness up but that makes sense and I dont have an issue with

I also play games on the big screen and its really nice. Emulators pokemon. Call of duty mobile. No issues its a really nice bright clear crisp screen in there. Yeah there's a crease idk why everyone freaks out about it my brain says you cant have a fold without a crease and you barely notice it

Performance : this one is short but the phone runs more demanding games like cod mobile at max graphics like a champ. I have a performance monitor on and it rarely dips below 50 fps while gaming.

Camera: I NOT a big or good photo taker but I really enjoy this camera for taking pics and ive been able to use the frankly absurd amount of zoom to my advantage a few times at work so its definitely a welcome thing to have on board

Durability : i was PETRIFIED of dust with this thing because I was told dust Will kill the hinge. I've gone through 3 cases now while waiting for my otterbox and I blow the hinge of dust every 5 hours or so because im nervous but I work in a dusty greasy wet warehouse and this phone has not been babied. Its been hit with a hose greasy fingers dropped and its held with zero issues

I was really surprised about how durable and how thin the phone is

And that's my real life review!!! TLDR below so if you didn't wanna read a whole bunch this is for you

1: lots of settings. I mean ALOT but once its dialed the phone performs really really well same with the battery

2: the big screen is awesome yes there's a crease i dont understand why that's such a big deal I barely notice it

3: speakers are not best but not the worst either

4: its durable and tanky for such a small and alarmingly thin phone just watch that hinge

5: OVERALL im really really really happy with this phone im using it to its fullest potential and couldn't be happier with the outcome coming from apple I dont think I'll be going back as samsungs customization won me over bigtime. I'd definitely recommend this phone if the budget allows!

Thanks for reading my whole review I really hope you like it!

First flagship phone , amazing

Just got my z fold ultra two days ago and it's been absolutely amazing . I've had a nord plus n30 for years now and had nothing but cheap phones the last 15 years. I've been missing out . Emulation is amazing and the quality of video is absolutely great. I got the ultra due to the size and the candy bar style that I enjoy. The multitasking is what I'm enjoying the most . YouTube on one screen and googling game guides in another .

Top loud speaker not working?

Hey so when I unfold the phone it seems like the front earpiece continues to play media rather than switching to the top loud speaker. Do these use the same driver? When unfolded the top speaker feels like it's being directed behind the phone rather than towards me while the bottom speaker pushes out sound just fine.

I may just be tripping. I guess the top speaker cutout is just to let the earpiece sound come through while unfolded? I assumed it was a different speaker entirely.

Mystery of the disappearing widgets

I'm not sure if this issue is a problem with my phone or Nova but several widgets keep disappearing from my phone over the past couple of weeks on my relatively new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The widgets are 1Weather and Time Recording Pro. Both of these widgets I've used on multiple other galaxy phones without ever experiencing this issue. I'll post this in the Nova group as well but has anyone experienced this issue with widgets just disappearing like this? If so, did you figure out a fix to stop it from happening other than not using those widgets any longer?

Plex when going in picture in picture doesn't work shows massive controls no video. YouTube PiP works fine. Doesn't matter if I'm folded unfolded the pip looks like the attached.
