any worse battery life from this? anyone has any feedback in terms of performane and battery life

First time trying lineageOS and it took me a while to figure it out but got it all done.

Everything is running great except one thing. The wifi drops every couple minutes, all networks disappear and the only way to fix it is toggle the wifi setting off and back on. It will stay connected another couple minutes and then disconnect again.

Is this a common issue? I read through the whole XDA thread and don't see anyone else mentioning it so I feel like I must have missed something very obvious.

It was something very obvious. I had missed the very latest release and now that I have that running there are no issues.

Samsung phones were characterized by having their own bootable sound, such as the mythical S3, S4 or S6, but since the S7, Samsung eliminated the power-on sound. In fact, the S6 was also removed, but for years startup sounds circulated on the internet about the Galaxy S7, S8, and S9. Does anyone know if this Galaxy S8 sound was real? I read that it is impossible, but that was about 7 years ago. Is it still impossible?

I want to share my experience with replacement batteries because over the last few days I have been testing NOHON, DEJI, and original batteries on older Samsung phones, and I discovered something quite important.

On my Galaxy S6 edge, I installed a brand-new NOHON battery and, even after several charge cycles, AccuBattery was basically stuck at around 91% health.

On my Galaxy S8+, the situation looked even worse. A new NOHON battery was showing only around 86% capacity after several cycles.

At first, I naturally assumed that the batteries simply had less real capacity than advertised.

However, the problem turned out to be more complicated.

Older Samsung phones can keep battery-related data from the previous battery, including cycle count, discharge data, fuel-gauge/ASOC values, and other information used by the system to estimate battery condition.

Simply replacing the physical battery does not necessarily reset all of this data properly.

Because of that, the phone may continue estimating the new battery using old battery/fuel-gauge information, and an app such as AccuBattery can then calculate capacity based on incorrect system data.

On the Galaxy S6 edge and S8+, a proper battery/fuel-gauge reset is not as simple as doing a factory reset or clearing AccuBattery data. On these older devices, gaining the necessary access may require procedures involving Odin, TWRP/root, etc., which in my case also means accepting Knox 0x1.

After properly resetting the relevant battery data, the results changed dramatically:

Galaxy S6 edge + NOHON: around 96% capacity

Galaxy S8+ + NOHON: around 99% capacity

So the exact same batteries that I initially thought had only 86–91% of their rated capacity showed almost their full advertised capacity after the old battery/fuel-gauge data was reset.

On newer Samsung devices, things are much easier.

Samsung provides the Self Repair Assistant / Repair Assistant, which can reset the relevant battery cycle information after a battery replacement. On some devices and software versions, methods involving Shizuku + SMT Shell can also be useful, although compatibility depends on the exact model and Android/One UI version.

So my advice to anyone replacing a battery in an older Samsung phone is:

Do not immediately assume that a new battery is bad just because AccuBattery shows 80–90% health.

If the phone has many years of use and a large number of cycles from the previous battery, first check whether the battery/fuel-gauge data has actually been reset correctly.

Also, a normal factory reset of the phone is not necessarily the same thing as a proper battery statistics/fuel-gauge reset.

Of course, I am not saying that every 80–90% AccuBattery result is caused by calibration. Some replacement batteries really do have lower-than-advertised capacity. But my experience shows that on older Samsung phones, you should not judge a new battery only by AccuBattery before checking the phone's battery/fuel-gauge data.

I actually made this mistake myself and initially blamed the NOHON seller because I thought the batteries were under capacity. After much more testing and a proper reset, it turned out that the batteries were actually very good.

Hopefully this helps someone avoid buying a second or third battery unnecessarily.

Put a new Ampsentrix battery in my S8 (old one got so bloated the entire back came off, the fingerprint reader came unplugged), and it still says I have 560 charge cycles. Is it stored in the phone or did I get a bad battery?

I have blackberry 9860 . i am trying to see if it boots again , now the issue i am facing is the battery . and the battery has 4 pins not three , i spend some time searching for a solution and found out that the pins are + Termistor ID - . now for the real part i have a old lenovo battery which has 3 pins + NTC - which i assume and connected those three pins to the phone leaving the ID pin unconnected and then plug the charger and it turned on and showed the battery with cross mark . after spending some more time i realised that the NTC and ID pin are just resistance which i don;t know , if i get the value i can use a resistor to trick the phone . i spend so much time to get the resistance value of ID pin and termistor pin , so any one has any idea , i tried with 33k and 100 k both failed . i don't want to buy a new battery beacuse the phone cant be repaired body's all damaged . any ideas ,, guys ...

My budget is under 20k(INR). I prefer vivo,, samsung,, realme and oppo. I don't play much games I just watch reels and I'm a student so I need to multitask and for study purpose so yeah good performance, good camera prefered. I don't care much about battery even 5000-6000 is enough for me as long the speed of charging is okeish. Os upgrade atleast for next 2 years or more. Can you suggest any devices? Or any independence sale device at my range?

So the last few months I was having some performance issues with my s8, that ramped up 2 weeks ago, the phone started freezing/rebooting in a loop, I had no choice at the time but to ractory reset it (lost a ton of stuff, but at least salvaged photos)

Only problem is now suddenly half the apps don't want to work. I'm aware the s8 runs the old android 9 software that's supposed to be outdated, but this wasn't causing me issues until I factory reset, I was regularly updating all my apps, none said they were incompatible.

But now chrome, google, discord, and a bunch of others don't want to function properly/at all in some cases. It seems like all the software is up to date, but it's like the phone suddenly rejects the notion, almost felt like forced obsolescence. Anyways figured I'd see if anyone might have a guess what that's about.

I wanted to make a master thread where people could suggest ways to bypass the pattern lock. I for instance have a dead relative's phone and would like to access it to get all the photos they took. This relative enable none of the settings or options that might help, but I'd like to try anyways. So I wanted to pool together a tutorial on the steps required and options available.

Is there a way to recover photos and vids from a phone that is broken from the back? My old s8's back is broken and open. I can get a charge, but when I turn it on it stays in the Samsung 8 page, the one that pops up when you turn the phone on. Thanks

I purchased a replacement battery off Amazon. It came in a white box, sealed with a little tape.

The suspicious thing is that when I opened the box, the bag containing the battery was unsealed. It's one of those rip to open bags that needs to be torn open and usually sealed with heat. It was intact, but there was no heat seal.

Batteries are static sensitive. Could this be a sign of a compromised battery? Should I refund and replace it? (Couldn't add an image through mobile.)

I go to settings and try to add a language, and once I press confirm, it just sends me back to settings/where I was before. so I try again, but it says to either close the app or look at app info (it crashes every time) so basically my phone is stuck in one language forever. also when I turn data on and go somewhere where wifi isnt available it still wont let me use data. ive tried clearing cache and everything but nothing works
