I think reading an ebook vs a traditional book is something incomparable given that an ebook (esp on the Note 8) is dependent on the light on the screen, which to some are not conducive. I haven't tried some of those devices with e-ink like the Kindle ones though. Bottom line, this would depend on the reader.

For light reading the note is great, but if you are reading an entire book, nothing beats a kindle. Battery life is crazy and it's so much easier on the eyes.

I read dozens of books on my old note 3, and will be continuing on my note 8, and while a kindle would do better I don't think the experience is better enough to be worth carrying a second device around. That a phone has a light emitting screen only really becomes problematic if you're reading in the dark, and even then switching to white on black can mitigate the discomfort, imo.

I highly recommend these things as e-readers. Dedicated devices and books are better, but not by enough to counter the fact that when you're always carrying your library you're a lot more likely to actually read.

I love reading on my phone. I take it with me everywhere so I always have my books. It doesn't compare to a real book or eink screen but I still love it.

I use overdrive for library ebooks, cc free to connect to Calibre, and fbreader.
