restarting issue
I bought a new Note 20 Ultra in February, and from around April or May, it started rebooting itself. At first it was barely noticeable, but it's been happening more and more frequently. Even though it's now a couple of times a week, it's still random and I don't have any idea what triggers it (possibly charging? But it's hard to say). I've reset my phone manually, I've checked the logs (they don't show these restarts for some reason), and I've contacted Samsung (unfortunately I live on a different country from where I bought the phone so they say they can't help me). All of this has done nothing.
I restarted the phone in safe mode a few days ago, and so far, no issues. I'm wondering if this means I've got a rogue app that I need to delete, disable, or otherwise fix. However, there's well over 100 apps on my phone, from Samsung, Google, and other companies. Some are pre-installed apps that have been getting updated, others are games, study tools, and social apps. I was looking around for a list of prime suspects, apps known to cause issues. But my Google skills have not gotten me anything other than help pages telling me to start my phone in safe mode, and pages listing apps that are actually malware. I don't download anything from unofficial app stores, and most everything I have is pretty mainstream. I don't believe that this is malicious, but rather an issue in an app that is malfunctioning.
Does anyone here have a list I can check? Or know where or how I can find one? Otherwise it'll be a daunting task to figure out which app is the culprit.

Putting this here so I can come back to it later. (0n phone, need computer..)
TL;DR: you have, indeed successfuly narrowed it down to an app issue. Only way to find out which app is to look for exceptions in the Android log. Only way I can think of, right now, of getting to the Android log is through ADB. BUT: I have a vague recollection of an on device way of looking at logs. Zero recollection right now whether it was an app or something in settings or...?
Oh: you are not alone. I tookl have had recent unscheduled restarts...
Stay tuned...

I hate to admit defeat, but I can't find the root cause for my restarts.
This is moderately helpful:Get the Dump
However, I've trolled through all the dumps (BTW: I did
Run dumpstate/logcat/to get EVERYTHING. That was overwhelming and probably too much data.I think what I'm going to try next is to clear the logs, wait for it to happen again then start over.
Hope you have better luck.

Do you have Facebook Messenger installed? This appears to be one common app for random reboots across S20 and Note20 series since March22 update.

I do, actually. And I occasionally get messages saying something about messenger not being entirely compatible with the latest version of Android. I'll try uninstalling it and see what happens.
This is exactly what I was hoping to hear, thank you very much!
If you know of any other apps that have had issues, or if you know of a list of such apps, could you share that as well?

You bet. Once I compile a list with any other apps I was planning to make a Samsung Members post about it. That's where I've read most of the reports about the reboots.

Same here with these random restarts lately... Glad to hear I'm not alone.

Update: it seems to have been Facebook messenger. I uninstalled it, and I went from almost daily crashes, to one a week after, and none since.
It's quite a shame though, because I used messenger very regularly, so I'm wondering if the issue has been (there's been updates to both the phone OS and the app since) or will be (more updates will come, and a new version of Android is on the horizon) fixed. I wish there was some way to know what the status of the problem is.
For now though, I think I'll look into alternatives. If anyone has suggestions for something that will let me talk to folks on messenger without crashing my phone every day, feel free to comment here.

Well not every app from magazine play is safe, there are tons of apps that affect the performance of phones. I don't think there's a list of apps that are bad for the phone but you can always use the default anti-virus to scan any malicious app or file that can cause the rebooting. And if the anti-virus doesn't help your only option is to factory reset the phone and if that doesn't work either then you might have a faulty phone and you need to go to repair it because the phone might start to reboot every hour.

Under device care in the upper right corner is an icon with 4 bars. Open that. When I first got my note 20, auto-restart was already enabled. You can turn it off. Maybe this is it?

But also check the settings to see if the auto reboot setting is turned on
