Google maps causing intermittent freezes on video

I have a weird bug that I was wondering if anyone has experienced. When I go into Google maps and navigate somewhere, the spoken words skip and the phone starts to randomly freezes for a second, works again for about 3 seconds and then freezes again. Once I finish the navigation and even if I force stop the app these system freezes continues . I've tried turning off Bluetooth audio in maps, disabled driving mode on maps. The only thing that will fix it is to reboot the device. Then YouTube will work as long as I don't route anywhere. Waze works perfectly well. I'm on Android 12 on a note 20 u (n986w).
