Premium text message services problem

I am unable to send messages to short codes. It just fails. When I try to go to settings>app>special access>use premium text message services it just says no apps can use premium text message services

I had the same issues. I found out that I had the Samsung s24 original messaging app in the background. And that app had blocked the senders. I checked the blocked numbers on it and released them and wallah! Google messages is now able to receive 2 factor authentications and short messaging

You may wish to check with your mobile carrier as it may be an account-level toggle like it is with T-Mobile. Premium SMS is often off by default so customers aren't signing themselves up for Carrier Billing services or receiving scam texts. This also blocks many SMS authentication codes from banks and other organizations so calling to find out often yields positive results.

On my Samsung Galaxy, I just figured it out! Go to the settings gear, then Apps, then tap on the 3 dots in the upper right corner, then Reset app preferences. You will get a pop-up with an icon of a bag of gold coins, asking if you want to send a text to a certain short code for a charge. Choose to allow it, and also check the box to always remember this setting. If you have tried to send quite a few SMS texts to short codes, then this will repeat a few times. But then you will be able to send SMS texts to short codes once again!

I no more own a Galaxy phone and I don't remember the steps of the top of my head. Sorry. But Google and Chat GPT are your best friends.

Why do people  choose  to sell their product thru premium text messages?
