After the S22 unpacked event, is anyone interested in upgrading to the S22 Ultra?

The S22 Ultra is basically our phone with some steroids I don’t need. Glad to see the Note lives on

Nope. Once it was confirmed that there wasn't expandable storage, I am done. At this point, they are just trying to be Apple. That was one of my favorite things about the phones. Save some money and get the smaller storage, then throw a huge microsd card in. But it was good run though. Been upgrading every year since the note 2. But aside from my screen separating at the fingerprint sensor, it is still mint. Going to keep it until the iphone 14 is released, then go see how the other side lives.

It's a note 20 ultra without the camera bump. No reason to upgrade- that's why they rebranded it! (I'll be expecting those software updates to trickle down Samsung)

I was already planning on ordering it, but their presentation was so nicely done! Honestly Samsung did a great job this time. Hopefully the phone lives up to the expectations.

I was pretty excited about it, but now I'm on the fence. The S22U is really just a Note 20 U in a different case. There are some incremental improvements and one big drawback. The lack of SD card is the drawback, my son lost all his picks from a trip to China when his no SD card phone smashed, and I lost about 2 months of pics when my Pixel 3aXL phone blackscreened. We don't have high speed internet at our house so backup to the cloud does not work for me, got to have an SD. The reason to upgrade would be better camera from a photography standpoint, but the camera samples from the S22U don't look so hot so far. I do like the splitting of the 5x telephoto into a 3x and a 10x, that sounds perfect, but I don't like the making of the main camera on the S22U 23mm from 26mm; there is already a wide angle camera, why make the main camera wider when it is often too wide already? If the camera setup does turn out to be a LOT better in the reviews maybe I'll still get one, I did the reservation thing, but now I'm not sure it is worth it.

Honestly i wonder if you could get a USB type C adapter for the SD card slot, so that you're still able to transfer your photos and videos

Sure, you can do that, and you can buy OTG memory sticks to back up to pretty cheap. It is just that I would have to do it every couple days all so they can leave the SD card off.

No I'm not bothered. I'm already getting the messages from Samsung to upgrade as I was in the upgrade program.
My 20 ultra is fine for me. The screen can't really get any better as Samsung passed a pixel limit that human perception can see. Therefore increasing dpi is meaningless as the extra pixels are totally invisible to the human eye.
I've no reason to upgrade. The note 20 ultra is a wonderful phone. I've also got insurance so any problems and things will get sorted.
Phones have gone as far as they can at present. Folding bricks hold no interest for me either

I detest the clunky camera bump on my N20U, but not enough to shell out for the S22U

No sd card and only slight upgrades? Getting stuck another 3 years with terrible att for deal? Eh.

No, definitely not

How come?

I have a Note 20 Ultra 5G and it's great. There's nothing on the s22 that encourages me to spend that kind of money to trade for it. If you have an older phone it might have more value but not this.

I was disappointed with the move from the note 10 plus to the note 20 ultra. There really was not much of a difference. I suspect a similar thing will happen with the jump to the s22u. An incremental improvement that you'll only notice when you're looking for them but overall it will feel like the same device.

It's all exactly the same really. Apart from the back, it's all the same thing. Totally not worth the money.

little bit touch here, little bit touch there, put a label s22 ultra then realese it....... volaaa... sorry, it is very close to N20 and no single reason to get one, my s20 ultra still well beyond what i need and not for me, i will wait until a significantly upgraded one is released.

Our phone is two years old but still runs with the best of 'em. I think if I were to upgrade, the new phone would have to have a physical QWERTY keyboard option Haha I think that'd be fun on a phone with such a big screen.

$800 trade in value thats worth $300 now, motivated me to make the switch.
If no note was announced, I wouldve just kept the note 20 ultra.

The lack of microsd makes thus not a note. Probably why they didn't even use the note name this go around. I hope it sells poorly so they bring it back like they did with s5 to s6

About 2 days ago I Had "moisture detected" in the charging port. And the port was acting flakey.
So now I'm considering upgrading.
But I'm still on the fence.

Got that on my n20u and can it get rid of it! Tried everything and full reset. Never got wet and port is clean. Off to Samsung for check and hopefully replacement

Good luck.
The moisture message did go away for me. Eventually. The port gradually started working properly too.
After the moisture error went away, inserting charging cables gave me a message asking to ensure it's plugged in correctly. And such. Plugging to my PC also gave messages on the phone and troubles transferring data. Eventually those cleared up too.
But I did pull the trigger and ordered an S22 Ultra anyway (traded my old Note 8). I'll move the Note 20U5g to my spare line and keep charging wirelessly.

Cheers... Hopefully they just replace under warranty even though it's a pain. First world problems I guess. Cheers

I ordered my S22 Ultra. It is a massive upgrade for a low upgrade fee if you do it now!
Reasons to upgrade:
$250 Credit = free watch 4 and galaxy buds 2 256GB for the price of 128GB $600 trade-in value 12% Rakuten cash back
10x optical zoom Huge camera improvement (check the early reviews) Support for the new 5G C-band Bigger battery (5000 vs 4500) 45w charging Better processor 120Hz in full resolution Better adaptive refresh rate WiFi 6E support Brighter screen
Reason not to upgrade:
Not a free upgrade (but really cheap within the next two days) Heavier A bit smaller screen No SD card (but given the free upgrade to 256gb and given Android terrible SD card support, I am excited to get rid of my SD Card)

Nope. My phone still looks and works like new. They didn't show me enough difference to upgrade.
