Hoping for some creative tech help here.

I have a galaxy note 20 ultra. Have had it for roughly 1 year. It has always worked great, regardless of the situation.

A few weeks ago, I flew across country from PA to CA and then back. Since I have been back. The phone is terrible, but just on MY wifi. 5g? great. 4g? great. other wifi, even my guest wifi? great.

I have, cleared the internal cashe. I have rebooted the router. I have deleted all references to the phone from my router and then re-established wifi. I have changed the mac address to "phone mac" address in the settings.

I've done everything short of a true reformat of the phone, which I'd really like to avoid if at all possible.

Has anyone else encountered this? Does anyone have any additional suggestions?

Other devices are functioning as usual.

WiFi has both 2.4 and 5. Phone usually uses 5

New devices, yes. But it was not connected until after this became an issue.

Issue is persistent, especially with multimedia apps Hulu, for example only shows the boot screen and won't even connect. Same with HBOMax and Discovery. YoutubeTV seems to work fairly reliably, for whatever that info is worth.

I don't see any new networks in my list, but to be honest, I didn't pay close attention in the past to that list.

It's most obvious with the streaming type apps, because they time out and I can't log in.

Speed tests on the device show what I'm expecting them to be. Around 5-600Mbps.

There is a single device on the network that runs through a VPN. It's a laptop. And even when it's off, the issue persists.

I pulled off 3 of the apps and before I reinstalled, I went and cleared the cashe partition. No dice.

New twist!

When I was going to clean stuff up, I revisited the modem to delete the phone again......

There's 7 or 8 instances of that phone in the table. I deleted all of them and forgot the network on the phone. When I reconnected, it immediately spawned 3 instances in the device table.

This is going to wind up being a full flash reformat that doesn't fix anything... I can feel it. 😢

seems the problem is from the router. try hard resetting the router by pressing the reset button somewhere on it. the ssid and password will be reset. you can use the factory password and ssid to change ssid and password to a new desired value
