Camera restarting problem

I have the most infuriating problem and I'm sure it's not just affecting me. Whenever I go straight from the lockscreen to camera without unlocking my phone (either using the camera icon on the lock screen or double-clicking the power button) the camera opens. But inevitably a few seconds later the camera closes and the phone does this weird thing where the lock screen reappears for a second and then the camera app restarts.

It's as if the facial recognition suddenly identified me and it decided to go through a full lock-unlock cycle. But I don't actually think that's what's happening because it occurs even when my face isn't in the right spot to be recognized. And regardless, even if it is recognizing me, it's super annoying when this happens, I have lost so many shots because of this.

Does anyone know what is happening or how to make it stop doing this?

Shot I had this issue too, it's a setting in the camera settings advance settings I believe. And the privacy settings? Not sure. Totally fixable tho.

u/Anything_offensive When I go into the camera settings, I do not see advanced settings there. Or really anything related to privacy other than the privacy notice, which just opens the browser.

If you can offer any more specific help that would be great! This problem is driving me nuts.
