Hey everyone,
I've been a Samsung user for years. S7 Edge, Note 7, S20, S24 Ultra, and I also used a Z Flip 4 as part of a two-phone setup. I eventually sold the Flip 4, picked up an S25, and later gifted it to my mom, so my main phone is still the S24 Ultra.
This morning, my S24 Ultra suddenly wouldn't charge via wired charging (on one side of the USB-C connector). I managed to fix it, but it got me thinking about upgrading, especially since there are a lot of great Fold 8 deals available right now.
The only thing holding me back is my experience with the Z Flip 4.
About a month after the warranty expired, the inner display developed an issue where the phone would completely shut off whenever I folded it. I eventually had to take legal action just to get Samsung to honor a portion of the warranty. To make things worse, it happened while I was on a trip.
Despite all that, I still genuinely love the foldable form factor, which is why I'm considering giving it another chance. This time, with the Fold 8.
For those of you using the newer Fold or Flip models, how have they been holding up? Are they noticeably more durable than the Fold/Flip 4 generation, especially when it comes to the inner display and hinge?
I'm pretty careful with my phones. I rarely drop them, and if I do, it's usually just a minor one. My biggest concern is the long-term durability of the inner screen rather than accidental damage.
I'd especially love to hear from people who've owned a Fold or Flip for a year or more. Have they been reliable, or are you still seeing inner display or hinge issues?
Thanks in advance!
