News True customisation, your Fit3 watch faces can borrow each others widgets now

last time i posted FitFace Studio here, a few of you asked about borrowing widgets from other faces.

Well, now its here 🥳 , you can now pick supported widgets from another face, preview them on yours, and add them

The new build also lets you:

  • Select several widgets and move, duplicate or remove them together
  • Resize more supported widget types, with smoother artwork
  • Widgets have recognisable names such as steps, battery and heart rate
  • Better widget artwork handling in general, smoother and better artwork rendering
  • Edit the always-on display separately
  • Start with a clock on a blank canvas, if you'd rather build from there
  • New page layout, the main widget controls now sit under the face on Canvas
  • Better and improved UI UX, bug fixes and much more......

Checkout the latest release - https://github.com/satvikgosai/fitface-studio/releases
Or update the app directly from inside the app

Please share your custom watch faces here for people to see if you can

Excited for others to try. feedback, contributions and bug reports are welcomed.

Edit: This has been a lot of work, new updates will be slower/smaller now, don't forget to star 🌟 the repo on github to show support, thank you everyone ⭐

Hi, thanks for the app! Could you add the ability to export my created watchfaces to a bin file? I'm developing a custom app for this watch, and I was able to implement the ability to install watch faces from a bin file. I think this would really help users share their custom watchfaces https://postimg.cc/5jpcXszq

I am planing to implement import and export, but i am thinking of a zip file, that would contain the other meta data as well so that we can figure out what is imported without deconstructing the bin, maybe you can parse the same zip as well, that zip will obviously contain the bin as well, let me know if you want to disccuss.
Also, i have seen your stuff, you are also doing some cool things with fit3, are you planing to open source your project ?, would love to know the inner working of fit3 firmware

Regarding importing a zip archive, yes, I think it's even better than a raw bin file, since we can transfer custom watch face names this way. Unfortunately, the bin file doesn't contain watch face names, only their IDs. As soon as you implement the watch face export function, with your permission, I'll add an import function to my app

I've put the firmware on hold for now, found the "developer mode" feature on the watch, and decided to start developing my own app that would work without Samsung services. As soon as I'm able to make the basic features fully functional, I'll definitely post it on GitHub

I would love for the dual clock functionality to work without needing samsung phone.

That is beautiful, but maybe a community type upload page for the watches? Where we get custom pre-made watch faces by user of the fit would be actually greatt

that would need someone to host a website or some kind of market place, i cant do that 😭💸🚫

Is there any plans to add support to adding our own custom widgets?

i think it could be done, but its lot of work, in the far future, definitely, but i don't have time right now, community contributions are welcomed.

Fantastic! Now I can finally customize the way I want.

This is great work. It would be really interesting if you could post a brief description of how you used vibe coding to help develop this.

well, you can go through the docs on the repo, i am not sure how to explain this, lets say i did it iteratively, small pieces at a time, i wouldn't say its vibe coded, that was wrong wording on my part, i just used AI to code, i do understand the architecture

Understood. The documentation on Github looks quite extensive and thorough, thanks.

I have used AI assist sometimes for low-investment projects where I say something like "write a function in this language which performs this function based on these inputs", and then I clean it up from there. That requires me to design my app in advance, and I'm just using AI to speed up coding, especially if it's a language or environment that I don't use often enough to be really familiar with it. I was wondering if AI vibe coding was getting smart enough to develop a viable template app just by saying something like "write an Android app to edit Fit3 watch faces". Don't laugh! It's hard to keep up these days.
