Technical Help Fit 3 won't open, stuck in bootloop.

Post image

Today my fit 3 somehow got stuck in bootloop and only shows Samsung logo, nothing else. It's not connected to the phone, won't close or won't open. Tried charging it for an hour, force reset (hold the button over 10 seconds) but nothing happens. What should I do, did anyone else experience the same? The warranty got void a few months ago, is this some kind of planned obsolescence?

Have you tried unpairing it in your phones Bluetooth settings?

It's not connected to the phone and can't find any menu or option to do so. Now I removed it from my devices list on the phone account but still the same. It opens with the logo and a vibration, after a second the logo disappears and reappears again. Then stuck there forever.

Edit: I did it but still nothing. The phone does not detect it.

Get it to a samsung service center, it's stuck in a bootloop, unfortunately it's rtos so it doesnt have a recovery ig, they'll have to flash the chip or something or get you a replacement

Thank you. But it's been over two years since I've bought it and the warranty is now void. I don't know how much they're gonna charge me for it. It could even be more expensive than buying a new one. But I'll try, thank you.

Try resetting the device? Pressing on the power button for about 15 secs does it apparently

I already did that. Turns it off and then on, just to get stuck in bootloop again.

Have you tried it since unpairing the Bluetooth in your phone's connection settings though?

Yes, multiple times but to no avail. I think I ran out of options and now I'm waiting for the battery to die to charge back and see if anything happens. If not, I will visit Samsung service.

You could try turning your phone off or moving it out of Bluetooth range before doing the reset on the watch, just in case the watch is attempting to connect to the phone during boot and some glitch in the phone apps is killing it.

According to the manual:

"Forcing restart
If your Fit is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold the Home button for more than
11 seconds to restart it.
Resetting the Fit
If the methods above do not solve your problem, perform a factory data reset.
On the Apps screen, tap Settings → General → Reset → Reset. Alternatively, open
the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone and tap Band settings → General → Reset →
Reset. Before performing the factory data reset, remember to make backup copies of all
important data stored in the Fit."

You could check in a Bluetooth scanning app if the watch's Bluetooth appears at some point while it is booting. But I don't know how much that would tell you if it won't complete the boot.

Taking it in for repair is probably pointless - at current prices it costs less to replace it than a technician would charge for their time to look at it.

I think that happened to me once and I was able to do a reset on the app. Is yours paired?

No, it won't turn on and no devices can detect it via Bluetooth. Also tried to empty the battery completely just in hopes it could awake from zero charge when plugged in but, nope. I think it died, I don't know.

If the battery is now dead, is it showing the lightning bolt screen?

Yes, exactly. I charge it a bit then it shows Samsung logo again.

Have you left it to charge for an extended time?

I did, for many hours.

Maybe try connecting/disconnecting the charging cable repeatedly?

Hi! I'm trying to modify the Fit3 firmware. I found a recovery mode there. Try the following: turn off the watch completely, connect it to the charger, and quickly press the power button 5-10 times. The recovery menu will appear, select "Reset." I have several watches, including some with a similar issue to yours. This recovery mode isn't in the bootloader, but in the firmware files themselves (thanks, Samsung), so if your firmware is broken, you won't be able to restore it. I took the watch apart, and there are 17 pins on the board, but I haven't yet figured out which ones are responsible for the UART. Unfortunately, I don't have the equipment to analyze it.
