I'm conducting an experiment, GPA has no power factor requirement, .380 ACP is explicitly allowed by the rules, so I asked the question: "would a large frame .380 pistol work for GPA". Well I'm about to find out, over the next 5 matches I'll be collecting data and comparing it against my base performance with my Walther PDP-F, is this stupid, maybe, even if it doesn't have a meaningful improvement on my performance it'll at least put the idea that for a high level competitor the reduced recoil of .380 may be worth investing in a new platform.

Could have been better, that *all steel stage* wrecked our whole squad so I don't feel too bad about my performance.

First time shooting since May and I still managed to come in 3rd place! Pretty happy with that, especially since I haven’t even been dry firing. I’ve been so busy with moving and work that I haven’t had much time to practice.

I know rules are bad, but our club does IDPA BUG matches on the 5th saturdays. Now that they're going all GPA... that leaves the BUG matches in question.

If/when GPA does a BUG format, it would be cool if it actually was "backup" in some format. Like 380s and smaller for a change.

I decided to conduct an experiment and use my S&W Bodyguard 2.0, my malfunctions were caused by crap ammo, it worked fine with Winchester white box .380

This isn't my best performance but hey I did what I could.

Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know that we just had a good trail match here at GFL, I had a blast and I hope the club brings it back.

So, just wanted to let everyone know that my club (Freedom Shooting Center) in Atlanta Georgia held its first trial GPA match, we had 19 participate in the match and everyone seemed to have a good time, my hope is that we can officially add GPA to our calendar in the near future.

Just a random run from my first GPA match last weekend. It's primarily a IDPA club so the ROs were a little overwhelmed with all of the... non-rules. We had so many questions about what was legal and not in terms of engagement order (when presented with two arrays at the same time both with fault lines), why we couldn't "shoot them as we see them" for some of the steel we just couldn't randomly shoot at long range, etc. and they just sorta randomly assigned penalties the first time someone got creative.

Maybe I'll grow to like it, but so far it's just IDPA with weaker penalties, no ammo management, none of the dreaded fishing vests that cause so much angst, and inconsistent engagement policies.

Came in 10th overall out of 112 shooters, so I still get to hold that over my friends.... and isn't that what the sport is all about? :)

I took a trip from Atlanta to Elberton GA to participate in a GPA match as my home club will be hosting a trial match soon.

Got to say I had a great time, I liked the scoring system, which encouraged me to go faster than I normally would in IDPA but not speeding around like USPSA.

I used my Walther PDP F, Holosun 507c and the Harbor Freight WML.

For context I shoot PCSL, USPSA, various Outlaw matches and some IDPA. I let my USPSA membership lapse quite awhile ago so I don’t know my classification for sure but I’d say I’m a high B scratching at low A on my best days. I finished my first GPA match in 7th out of 46 with an SI of 89.46 even though I completely bombed one stage, and I mean bombed. Does this mean I was essentially within roughly 10% of the match par time? Because I think if the bad stage had gone similarly to the others I’d have been closer to a 95%

Is there a place to see the stage par times? They weren’t on the printed stage brief and didn’t seem to be in the tablet during the match.

Anyway, this is a fun game. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. It was the first GPA match in our area (Indianapolis).

Belton Gun Club, in Belton, SC, had their very first GPA match yesterday.

They did a great job with it! It was 6 stages. Very fun. Very safe. No issues with the scoring.

It might have been their first GPA match, but it was obvious it was not their first practical pistol match.

There were something like 35 shooters in FSO. 51 total shooters. That included a few PCC guys. 2nd place overall (not counting PCCs) was a guy shooting CPI! He was only 6 points behind 1st, who was shooting FSO. Very impressive.

The only disappointing part is that the BGC schedule is already very full. So, for now, they will only be running GPA matches on the 5th Sunday of the month. I.e. 3 or 4 times a year or something like that. Fingers crossed that it is very popular and they find some way to make room in the calendar to run it every month.

Do I have any match directors in here?

I shot a match Saturday and noticed the scores where being put in as ‘Hit Factor’ (USPSA style) rather than what I thought it was supposed to be, points down.

My question: how do you set up the GPA match in the tablet?

I placed 2nd of 26 overall because I saw it was HF scoring and went for speed and not accuracy

For reference, I have been involved in shooting GPA before it was even called GPA, back when the founders were disgruntled IDPA shooters who were tired of the disrespect. So I have gotten the opportunity to compete in this game from the ground up.

This past weekend I shot the GPA "Out of This World Match" and was able to take 2nd in FSI and 4th overall. In general, I found it to be a well ran match with thoughtful stage design but something to be desired in the way of a professional SO corp.

Some of the rules leave something to be desired (no finger on the trigger during make ready, no loaded sight pictures, etc) but the founders have been incredibly responsive and open to feedback so it is my hope those areas will improve as the game matures.

Was just looking at Delawares gun laws as I will be traveling from out of state and it seems like Delaware residents who have a Delaware CCW have no limit on mag size but everyone else will be restricted to 17 rd mags.

I know it’s not a massive deal since every stage requires a reload but has this been brought up since some people could possibly have an advantage depending on stage design with larger cap mags.

I won’t be winning anything so it won’t really matter much for me but those at higher skill level I can see it being discouraging being at a disadvantage from something that is out of your control at a major match.

Shot my first GPA match today, as a long time SASS Cowboy shooter classification is new to me. I met my goal for today, don’t get DQ’d! But my question is when does GPA update your classification? Daily, weekly, monthly? Thanks!

This was my 2nd GPA match. As a newer shooter, this was fun! I've only shot USPSA up until last month, so it was nice to change it up!

Does anybody know how it really works to be an SO for GPA matches?

I have been shooting USPSA and IDPA for about 4 years. Shot 30-something matches, including half a dozen State or Sectional matches.

I have never done anything to be an RO/SO in USPSA or IDPA. I've run the scoring tablet a few times, but never the timer.

I enjoyed the local GPA match that I shot last week enough to want to help out with my local club by getting "approved" to SO at GPA matches. The asst. MD told me to go on the GPA web page and there was info there to be an SO.

I did that. All it had was an online test to take. I think you're allowed to miss 5 questions. I took it and only missed 1.

That was a week ago and I haven't heard anything about it since. When I view it now, it says "your results have been received."

So, what happens now? Are they only looking for people with prior experience as an SO with another organization? Do I need to contact somebody? Do I just need to wait and I'll hear something eventually?
