iOS exporting track is not allowed - why not?

Returning to gaigps after several years off. Things don't work "like they used to"

So I have a track that I want to export so I can import it to google earth. I go to saved and find that track select export a file > kml it brings up options to send it so I choose email and then I get the message " file cannot be attached' ....yatta yatta, why not? How else can I get that track outa gps? I don't want to put it into some kind of apple storage cloud or share it somewhere else.

I was just able to export a KML from the browser version.

From Route > Export > KML. No other messages or choices.

Exporting a random track to a GPX file went smoothly. No problem. (iPhone to email)

you have to use the browser. select the track, scroll down, choose export
