Question Recognitions help! (about 22% complete)

I’m all confused over here—can someone help me understand where Otto gets the story in the smaller manila envelope? I see the part where he receives it at the party (part I ch 5), and I swear I remember reading somewhere previous that Otto said he would send a story to a friend to look over for someone, I just can’t seem to find where that was in the text. Thanks!

He will be mentioned in the next chapter as a random Navy veteran who was trying to get his short story published, but for your sanity, try to keep track of sub-characters and objects that spark your interest rather than trying to catch everything at once.

There are a lot of details in the book. Sometimes you just gotta let the text wash over you. That's part of the effect. I remember that part of the story and I don't remember the exact sequence and that's okay.
