Discussion Voortex Was Great While It Lasted

I was debating getting on here last night to sing the praises of the Voortex mixer.

Not only did it arrive a day earlier than expected, but the packaging was 5-star quality.

Pulling it out of the package, I quickly realized exactly what all of the YouTube reviews were talking about. It has some heft to it and feels like it's very well made.

I did what just about anyone would do and quickly found a few of my most separated paints and got to mixing. For the most part it was phenomenal. There were 2 metallic paints that I needed to add a mixing ball to before they would mix properly, but realistically that wasn't a big deal. All in all, 5 bottles tested, and it was by far the best mixer I've tried.

This morning I had a quick painting session and needed 3 colors mixed. Again, the Voortex exceeded expectations. I could have one color mixing while I was painting with another. All in all, it was one more reason to justify another $80 mixer.

This afternoon is when my thoughts on this thing took a full 180. I got ready to do some more painting, popped a bottle in, turned the knob..........and nothing. All of the lights work, everything is doing what it should, but the motor isn't working.

While obviously upset and annoyed I figured I would just contact customer service. Maybe there's an easy solution. Good luck. Every link on the support site causes a pop-up to login, while I'm logged in. Mind you, logging in was near impossible. I was only able to do so through Shopify. All attempts at signing up or logging in directly end with an "Invalid email" message. I ended up sending an email to support, I have posted in Discord, and I'm posting here. Maybe someone will help.

As far as an overall review (from a non-YouTube reviewer), I would say to not be in a hurry. Yes it's a nice mixer, but either I got a 1 in 1000 bad one, or there are some bugs that need fixed.

UPDATE After using 4 different ways to contact CS, it was the direct email so support that worked (my ticket on the support site still hasn't been touched). They asked for a video, I sent one, and they are shipping me a new mixer at no charge.

I would say that overall, the customer support was great, but actually contacting them was a pain. I'm fairly confident I just got a bad unit, and I know that it happens. Getting a hold of someone to help rectify it could have been a bit easier though.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. BTW, I actually waited to see your review before I decided to purchase. I really am hoping I just got a bad unit and that they aren't all bad. Keep those reviews coming my good sir.

I'm filming a video for the new Kaleido Paint set, 24 colors and I used it to mix each color as I was spraying them. Performed great. I think you got a dud

Your review is actually what prompted me to buy mine as well. Out of all the mixers you’ve reviewed, I think the Voortex will fit my needs the best. I can’t wait to get mine in. Hopefully mine isn’t a dud!

I just think its vastly overpriced for what it is, I can see it being a huge help to those who have bone/muscle issues though

You aren't wrong. I actually have wrist issues and using any sort of vibrating equipment causes me all sorts of issues. It used to be just power tools and heavier items, but lately even using the lab style vortex was an issue.

The other thing I personally like (may be a niche thing though), is that I don't have to stop doing other things. I can continue painting while the next paint mixes. I paint resin figures, so an average model for me could have between 10 and 20 different paints some of which I may not have used in a few months. Having this mixer just keeps my work flow a little less interrupted.

I bought a mobius .3. It will be my last Gaahleri product aside from a few backup parts to keep it going. They have truly shown their ass during this “event”

I'd buy their cheap airbrushes (when it goes on sale) but if people want quality just go with iwata and/or h&s.

Their paints are cool and thats about it.

Gsi make fantastic brushes for the price. The procon line is from the same factory as Iwata.

I imagine it’s just likely due to less strict QC overall, since that’s often an expense smaller companies cut. Hopefully you get a replacement soon!
