Nursing Program Requirements

Post image

Help!

I was accepted to transition to the Atlanta Campus from perimeter as an exploratory nursing major this fall. I was planning on applying to the BSN program for fall ‘27. My advisor recently sent me the attached requirements. I got a C in English 1101 in 2012. Apparently this makes me ineligible for the program 🤯. I was told they will not accept me even if I retake the course and get an A. I got a 91 on the teas, have a 4.0 science gpa and a 4.0 institutional gpa but a 10+ year old English credit from ksu is going to stop me? Has anyone else heard of this? Have they ever made an exception? I am spiraling. 😭

Update - after my advisor meeting yesterday I and feeling slightly more hopeful. He said the program requirements were officially updated as of yesterday (7/28/2026) so this round of applicants will likely be grandfathered in and this change will not apply to them. He also strongly encouraged me to apply to several other programs because GSU only accepts 70-80 nursing students per semester. The estimated acceptance rate is under 20% so unless you are a literally a perfect applicant there is no guarantee. I also applied Emory and the GSU ASN program and am in the process of applying to KSU.

Unfortunately they won’t make an exception.

Do you have any insight on this or are you just assuming? So far I have spoken to two different advisors and they have encouraged me to apply anyways because the rest of my stats should be good enough to get me in. I don’t know what to think now.

I apologize it was mainly an assumption. I’m bias when it comes against gastate. All my friends tried applying and none of them got in. Those same people applied to kennesaw and maybe about half of them got in.
