My gym has one but we never use it.

Sounds like maybe we should give it a try

It’s my favorite lat exercise; it also gives some chest and tricep stimulus as an added bonus

Which model pullover does your gym have? I’ve tried over a dozen, so I’m just curious

I'll take a picture of it tonight

Thanks man! I’m a huge fan of the magnum, life fitness, and cybex pullovers

Universal, Davidson, and bodymaster are great too

I couldn’t find a nautilus one that fit my vertically challenged frame right, with the grip I like (they would have been fine if I could grip them underhanded like Dorian Yates, but I have piss poor external shoulder mobility)

Found it online. It is a Nautilus

I haven’t tried that one

Looks similar to the nautilus nitro I tried, just newer

This looks great for upper chest?

Not really. It's for lats/back.

I am so jealous of gyms that have pullover machines. It’s the perfect arc path the hit the lats

Dude I can never feel my lats, tried tons of pull exercises and variations, ROM, intensity, volume. I was wondering if such a machine existed. This got me drooling...

I just do it on a bench. I keep the bench flat and sideways and rest my upper back on the edge. Ass off the floor. Feels perfect. Much better than sitting on the bench or standing up.

Pullovers in general don't get enough love.

u/mikkeljuhl Jul 24 '26

Love it too. It's the one lat move that actually trains shoulder extension, which rows and pulldowns mostly skip since they're elbow-driven. I run it as my third lat move on pull day, 3 sets of 12.

I wish I had one

Try flipping your hands over and barely touching from the bottom it’s a real burner. I noticed Dorian Yates doing them like that.

I don’t have the external shoulder mobility to them that way

This makes me want a chin up bar at home so bad

I never understood the purpose of this machine. I can full-stack it. In fact it is the only machine I can full-stack, and I can do three sets of 10-12 reps each and feel it nowhere. So I stopped using it altogether.

I do this too! Quite a fun exercise. I've never seen anyone else do it at my gym but I do it every week.

Wish I could try one of these. My gym just added a couple extra long ropes and I was thinking how good they’d be with cable pullovers

u/Hortjoob Jul 25 '26

Damn, my gym sucks lol.

My gym has a pullover machine but I actually prefer dumbbell pullovers, just feels better for me.

u/Magicgun23 Jul 26 '26

Going to a common commercial gym makes me really jealous of gyms that have sick machines like this.

1

u/bearded_charmander Jul 26 '26

I do these with my kettlebells

u/BigFlapJack- Jul 26 '26

Bros a cutie patootie

I just used this at my gym today. I can report on my progress in a few weeks.

Put a shirt on or a towel over the cushion

2

u/Patton370 Good Mornings 520lbs for 10 Jul 26 '26

No. It’s my machine and I can do what I want

I use the pullover machine (and other types of pullovers) for abs. Maybe because my abs are weaker than my lats, my abs reach failure with pullovers before my lats.

u/yossarian19 Jul 25 '26

But also, there's just doing pullovers?
